We stared at each other for a second. She didn’t look afraid, she looked like she was prepared to do whatever it took to take us all down, to have Luke.
“Emily” I said, “You don’t want to do this”
“Oh trust me, ever since you walked into that stupid restaurant, THIS, is all I’ve ever wanted to do.” She spat at me
“Emily even you know that this is too far” I tried to keep my voice calm but I was quaking inside.I watched as Emily’s face fell. Like she’d come to a realisation. Her arm relaxed and she calmed down.
I felt like it was safe to let go of her now.
She took a step back and I looked at the knife in her hand.
Plastic.
I defended myself against a PLASTIC KNIFE.
WAS THIS GIRL BAT SHIT CRAZY OR WAS THAT JUST ME.
Emily saw me staring.
“You really thought I would carry a real knife around in my boot. Are you dumb as shit?” she laughed.
I glared at her.
“Get out” I whispered.
“Not until you tell me where he is” she got very close to me.
I could see where her face was going to bruise from where I had hit her. That made me happy.
“I’m sorry, who?” I smiled sweetly again
“You know who”
“Oh! Luke!”
“Answer the question!”
“I don’t know where your prissy little boyfriend is and frankly, I wouldn’t want to know.”
“Don’t pretend like you don’t still like him”
“Oh get over yourself”
“Ugh, why am I wasting my breath on you”She turned to walk away.
Was that it.
Was she done.
I’m sorry but what she just did was way out of line and now she’s just walking away?!
I’m sorry but I’m not done yet. I laughed loudly.
She quickly looked at me again.
“What?” she snarled.
I began to walk towards her as I spoke. She took a step back with each word.
“So you’re telling me, you’re going to walk in here, push me to the floor, call me a bitch, attack me, attempt to attack my friend, pull out a fake knife, scream at me again, question me and then when you don’t get the answer you’re looking for, just walk away?”
I had her backed against the elevator door.
“I’m not afraid of you” she hissed
I hit my fist against the elevator buttons, making her jump.
I guess she lied, she was afraid of me.
The doors pulled open and she fell in.
Literally.
I took a deep breath.
“I tried to get you and him out of my life. Not for you. Not for Luke. For me. But here you are again, asking me where he is. I’ve been home for a month and you think that the minute I get back to America, I’m going to have Luke’s exact co-ordinates logged into my phone? So I can tell you exactly where he is? Because I thought that, “as his girlfriend” you should know that. So why don’t you know where he is Emily? Have you let him out of your sight for a mere second and as soon as you don’t know where he is you come running over to the girl you pushed away from him? The girl you made him forget about? Now you want my help.” I smiled again.
