Chapter 21 - Don't go

I heard a yell from the other end of the airport and turned around to see Michael, Calum and Ashton looking around frantically.

A smile broke out across my face, Sam hadn’t moved, she had music on too but I could hear she was listening to metal very loudly so she wouldn’t have heard the boys.

I saw Michael spot us and he pointed and yelled, “Over there!”

The boys looked over and their faces lit up, they ran over.

I patted Sam on the shoulder and she looked at me, I pointed over at the boys and she sat up and looked at them, she gasped when she saw Ashton running toward her.

She jumped up into his arms and started crying onto his shoulder.

Calum kept running past Lori and I and went straight over to Violet, picked her up and kissed her.

My eyes widened and I started smiling like an idiot, I felt somebody grab me from behind and I turned to see Michael holding Lori and I.

I hugged him back tightly.

“I thought we weren’t going to get to you guys on time” he said
“You did it” Lori beamed

We pulled away and Lori and Michael started talking very quickly to each other,

“I thought you were going to leave with out saying goodbye” Michael said
“We didn’t think we were going to see you before leaving, we thought you weren't going to say goodbye” Lori said
“Why would we do that?”
“I don’t know, we thought you were busy”
“We were”
“Then why are you here?”
“You guys came for us when we left, even though you were in a meeting and didn’t know you were getting the flight”
“That’s because we love you guys”
“Then why do you think we came back for you?”

Silence.

I backed away a little and left them to their thing.

I glanced between the three of them,

Three.

There were only three.

Of course there were only three.

He was with her, there was nothing I could do to stop that.

And anyway, it was good he didn’t come. If he had, and somebody got a picture, and she found out, things could go horribly wrong, I wanted Luke to be safe, even if that meant me feeling like somebody was punching me in the stomach repeatedly.

We all sat in the airport for a long time together, we had done goodbyes before and I hated it, but this time felt even worse because I KNEW it was real because there was no way that they could go with us back to the UK.

Sam sat on Ash’s lap sideways with her head against his chest and his arm holding her back to support her.

Violet was leaning against Calum as he mindlessly played with her hands as he spoke. I watched her watch him do it. She was smiling very widely, this was the first time in a long time that I had seen her that happy.

Michael and Lori were sat together talking to the rest of the group.

We actually knew each other before we were a group. I knew Michael and Lori, Sam was dating Ash, Violet was best friends with Sam and Luke and Calum were friends with Ash and Mikey. If that made any sense at all.

Ash invited Sam to go and watch him at band practice and she had asked if she could bring a friend, so she brought Violet and Michael asked me if I wanted to come too, I brought Lori with me.

We all started talking and I found out that Sam and Violet were YouTubers like Lori and I. We started talking about it for a while and we decided we wanted to film together, eventually we did and we had all been best friends ever since.

This wasn’t one of those ‘meet the band and each one of us fell in love with each one of them’ kind of stories. We’d known each other for a long time before.

“Do you remember when we all first met” I said, randomly
“Yeah” laughed Violet, “I judged you all so hard that day”
“What, why?!” gasped Ashton
“Well, the only reason I came was because Sam promised me £20 if I did, which by the way, I still haven’t had” she looked at Sam,
“I said, if you didn’t enjoy it I would give you the money and what was it you said after we left?”

Violet looked at the floor, going a little red, she knew what Sam was going to say,

“I believe you said,” Sam continued, “That was fun, and that Calum guy is cute”

We all looked at Violet and her cheeks had heated up, she was bright red with embarrassment,

“Oh really?” Calum raised an eyebrow at her, she hit him on the arm and he kissed her on the forehead.

I was so happy for them all but I couldn’t help but feel like the potato of the group who couldn’t get a boyfriend if she tried.

“Boarding call for flight 20987 to Luton airport, UK”

We all froze.

This was it.

This was where we said goodbye.

We all stood up and hugged each other. Calum and Violet kissed goodbye, as did Ashton and Sam, and just out of the corner of my eye, I saw Michael kiss Lori on the top of her head as he said goodbye to her.

Everyone had somebody except me.

I waved to the guys and handed the woman at the desk my boarding pass, she checked it and I was about to board the plane when I heard Ashton,

“Sammie!” he called and she turned to look at him, tears in her eyes,
“Don’t go” he whispered.

She walked over to him and stood in front of him,

“I have to” she sighed
“Come on tour with us”

She froze, we all did, what was he talking about?

“What?”
“Please Sam. You can come and watch our shows, you’ve always wanted to do that, and you can come to interviews and stay on the bus and you won’t have to leave”

Sam stood still for a moment and looked back at the rest of us, then back at Ash,

“What about the others?”
“There’s not enough space for more than one extra person” he looked down and Sam looked back at us
“I can’t” she whispered

“Yes you can!” Violet called from where we were stood, “Sam this is the happiest we’ve seen you in a long time, and to be able to go on tour? That’s incredible, and you’ll be doing it all with Ash”
“But it isn’t fair on the rest of you guys” Sam frowned at us
“Sam, we’ll be okay, just go” Lori reassured her

Sam looked at me, still anxious,

“Go” I smiled

She looked back at Ash and he gave her a ‘so…?’ kind of look,

“Okay” she said and jumped up and hugged him.

Would you look at that I thought They’ve done it again

A/N - So this chapter's more about Ashton and Sam's relationship, I genuinely love their love story. Luke didn't come to the airport, why??

So, as you might know, i'm 'advance writing' this book so i've written it in a document and i'm just posting another chapter each day, and last night I FINISHED! So, you are now reading a book with an ending which is always helpful!

Anyway, i like it, i'm happy with it.
