"What the hell happened?" I gasped as I rushed over to a barely conscious AJ.
He was hanging out of the backseat of Laura's car with his head slumped against the seat and his feet dangling out. My eyes immediately began to water when I saw his face up close. His right eye was bloody and swollen shut, his left eye was in no better shape, his nose was bleeding as well, and his right cheek was swollen. His hair was messy and his face was caked in dirt. His shirt had a hole in it and his lanky arms were wrapped around his torso as he groaned in pain.
"He called me about half an hour ago. I barely understood him except that he was in the back of the school. I called Laura. We found him half passed out. We immediately drove here," Scar explained. I leaned over to touch AJ's shoulder but he cringed in pain.
"What happened?" I asked him softly.
"I messed with the wrong one," He tried to joke but it was just sad.
"I need to get you inside but you're going to be in a lot of pain," I exclaimed to him.
"I got him," Mason appeared beside me suddenly. I watched helplessly as he lifted up my brother with great ease and quickly carried him in.
"Luce," AJ groaned my name as he was placed on the couch that the twins had quickly vacated with shocked expressions.
"What?" I asked, rushing to his side. He lifted his arm up and I cursed loudly, holding my hand to my rapidly beating hard. What the fuck?
"Allister Jesse Allen, what the hell happened out there?" My voice trembled. Several gasps went around the room as I lifted up the black material of AJ's shirt to reveal four ragged, bloody claw marks. They were so distinct against his pale skin.
"I-I can't breat-" AJ gasped, breathing harshly.
"We have to get him to a hospital," Scar announced in panic.
"You didn't think that when you were driving over here?" I snapped at her.
"I thought it was the result of another pointless fight. I had no idea it was this bad," Scar sounded remorseful. I noticed Mason, Laura, and the twins standing to the side, whispering with panicked expressions.
"What's the matter?" I asked hopelessly.
"Lucy, your brother, that's a werewolf's claw mark," Mason explained to me.
"I know that. I can see that," I spat.
"Lucy, there's venom in our claws. If it entered his blood stream..." Laura trailed on but quickly snapped her eyes from me when AJ began screaming in agony.
"What's happening?" I cried as his body began to convulse.
"The venom is infecting his system. It won't be long now," Nick stated.
"Long until what?" I asked desperately. AJ leaned over the couch and began vomiting blood. I didn't know if my eyes were playing tricks on me but his ribs seemed to crack, one at a time.
"Oh shit," Nate exclaimed complete shock taking over his features.
"What?" I asked, looking at him with wide eyes.
"He's shifting," He exclaimed.
"Shifting?" I asked in confusion.
"How old is AJ, Lucy?" Mason asked me seriously.
"He turns 17 next weekend," I stuttered.
"Lucy, every wolf shifts at 17, that's the first transformation. Usually it's not until the day of their birthday but I'm guessing that those claw marks triggered his wolf," Mason explained to me.
"What?" I asked, dumfounded as I searched his face for meaning.
"Lucy, what aren't you getting? You're brother's a werewolf," Scar answered.
Yes, Nana was definitely going to end my life.
