Excitement

I could never understand how people thought track was life. It's not. I understand running after a soccer ball or tackling someone. At least those sports have an objective, but track is just pointless running, and for what? Maybe it's just me but I need an incentive to run. Because it's "fun" is not enough. So, as I walked down the path through the park, I watched the track team as they "practiced running". The most intriguing thing they were doing was hurdles. That looked somewhat fun and it looked like you needed to put some sort of effort into jumping over them.

"Lucy," I heard my name being called behind me. I turned around and saw Laura, my Psych buddy, jogging up to me.

"Hey," I greeted her with a smile.

"Hi, I was just about to go watch the game. I was wondering if you wanted to come join me," Laura asked me.

"Which game?" I asked her curiously.

"Soccer. Our team is really good and the team we're going against is just as good too so it should be a really intense game," Laura explained to me.

"Okay, sounds fun. Let me just text my friend and we can go," I replied as I pulled out my phone. I quickly texted Scar to meet me at the soccer fields, wherever those were, when she was done with class. My Econ class ended almost an hour earlier than Scar's class did so I had been wandering around campus, trying to entertain myself until she was done. Thank god I ran into Laura though. I would've eventually ran out of things to do and see.

"So, do you play any sports?" I asked her as we walked.

"No. I thought about cheerleading but I realized I can't really pull off the whole blonde hair, two faced, and preppy look," She replied.

"I see what you mean. I saw the cheer squad earlier and did think it was a little weird that all the girls were blonde," I told her, laughing.

"I know, it's so weird. Most of them aren't even natural. I guess it's a thing to look like each other or something. They all even have fake tans. It's so ridiculous considering we're in the mountains and no one tans naturally here," Laura explained to me. I laughed at her last comment. She was really funny. I could find myself becoming good friends with her and I'm almost positive Scar would like her too.

"It's almost the same thing back in California. Everyone is tan and a lot of the girls are blonde, natural and fake," I added.

"I don't know why the obsession with blonde. I personally hate the color," Laura said, pointing to her dark colored hair. I was about to respond when I heard the loud noises of hooting and hollering of the crowd. We had reached the soccer fields, or more like the soccer stadium. The bleachers were packed with hundreds of people considering it was only the early afternoon and a lot of classes were still going on.

"Come on, my friends saved us seats," Laura said, grabbing me by the wrist and pulling me behind her. Unfortunately, her friends sat in the middle of a huge crowd of rowdy and very excited guys and we literally had to push and shove our way through them.

"Lucy, these are my friends Taylor and Audrey. Girls this is Lucy," Laura introduced me to her friends. Both girls were really nice and pretty. Audrey was cute with a short bob that framed her heart shaped face and baby blue eyes the size of quarters and Taylor looked like a model with her slender and tall figure, bright red hair, and apple green eyes.

"That's such a gorgeous name, Lucy.  You can sit next to me and ogle the players with me," Audrey told me as she patted the seat beside her. I took the seat while Laura took the one next to me.

"So, do you guys know any of the guys that are playing?" I asked them, scanning the field.

"Know them? Audrey's dating Marko, number 10, and Laura's with Andre, number 14," Taylor replied, pointing to two guys racing down the field. I couldn't see their faces so I made a mental note to remember their numbers.
