Road Trip

"Road trip," Nick yelled loudly as he stuck his head out the window. I laughed, shaking my head as I put my bag in the truck with the rest.

"You guys ready?" Laura asked from the driver's seat of her car. I looked back into my own car and noted Scar and AJ were in the back but Mason was standing on the outside. Laura, Nick, and Nate weren't going with us. They had only dropped us off in order to get my car.

"Uh, yeah," I answered her, rounding the car and heading to the driver's side. As I reached for the door, Mason moved in front of me and blocked it.

"What are you doing?" I asked him, frowning slightly.

"What are you doing?" He asked me back.

"Uh, driving my car," I replied.

"No, I'm driving," He told me, turning to open the car door.

"Excuse me, I don't think so," I declined, reaching out to shut the door. He was crazy if he thought that he was getting behind the wheel of my baby. Scar was an exception but only when I wasn't capable.

"Give me the keys," Mason demanded.

"No," I shot back.

"Lucy," He growled, narrowing his eyes at me.

"Mason," I replied, "I'm driving."

"No, I am," He countered.

 "Why?" I asked.

"Because I'm not sitting in the passenger seat," Mason answered.

"Why?" I asked again.

"Because I want to drive," He told me.

"Why?" I asked yet again.

"Because," He snapped, annoyance coating his voice.

"Because what?" I continued.

"I vote Mason drive," AJ called, from the rolled down window.

"Shut up, no one asked you," I said to him.

"Still, I think he should drive," He replied.

"There is no voting? What do you think this is? This isn't a democracy. This is a dictatorship and I'm the dictator and this car is mine to dictate," I exclaimed.

"She gets real deep and personal when it comes to the love of her life," Scar explained to a very confused and amused looking Mason.

"I thought I was the love of your life," Mason teased me, causing me to blush deep red. As he took a step forward, I took one back. Quickly, he reached out around me and pulled me flat against him. Leaning forward, he pressed his forehead against mine as he stared into my eyes. I felt his hands slide up my body until they reached my neck. I sighed as his hand swiped over the mark he'd given me. I was so distracted that I didn't notice his other hand reaching for the keys in my back pocket. It wasn't until I heard their familiar jingle sound did I snap out of whatever trance I was in.

By then it was too late. Smiling triumphantly, Mason opened the car down and went in.  If he thought I was just going to slip in the passenger seat so easily he had another thing coming. Turning on my heel I walked over to Laura's waiting car. Slipping in, her and the boys looked at me in amusement. I saw Mason's door open and he stepped out. He began to walk over to Laura's car with a look of determination and slight anger on his face. Oh, scary!

Just as he came before my side, I locked the door. He narrowed his eyes and mouthed, "open the door." To which I shook my head. I knew I was being childish. Did I care? No.

Suddenly I heard a click and saw the door had been unlocked. I turned to Laura but she held her hands up saying, "it wasn't me." Nate sat beside me but I knew he hadn't locked it. Which left only one culprit, Nick. I was about to confront him when Mason opened my door. I reached over to shut it back but he was too strong. He grabbed my waist and hauled me out like a rag doll.
