Savannah's POV
Sebastian's face when he saw Myra and Luis for the first time in years was priceless. His face crumpled when his mother presented the two shy children huddled closely together with an evil smile. He ran to them and fell to his knees and gently gathered them in his arms. His mother smirked at me from the corner of the room where I was witnessing it all. When I had come home the next day, Gloria greeted me with sweet hugs and hellos because she knew what had happened yesterday. I knew she wasn't being nice to me out sympathy, but rather mockery. I was about to make a comment to her when I noticed the two children sitting in the corner, staring blankly at the wall. Immediately, I knew it was Myra and Luis.
From what I was told, Myra was thirteen and Luis was nine. Myra had her arm wrapped protectively around Luis as she stared at me harshly, then going to her mother with an even harsher look. Myra had long black hair that went down to her waist. It was messy and it formed a blanket around her and Luis, so that only her eyes could be seen. I was astonished by her eyes. They were a dark almost black color. They were intense as she gazed around the room, taking in her surroundings.
I walked over with a shy smiled and put out my hand to shake hers. "Hello," I said, "You must be Myra. It's a pleasure to meet you."
She glared at me but when I retracted my hand and gave her a reassuring smile, her eyes softened a bit. She bit her lip in hesitation but finally muttered out, "You're Suzy, right? My brother's girlfriend? Gloria told me a bit about you."
Gloria suddenly appeared and sneered at Myra, "Myra, honey. What have I told you about calling me Gloria? I'm your mother and you need to address me as it. Understood?".
Myra cringed, as if she could feel the tension and hostility coming off of Gloria. Myra replied with a shudder, "Y-Yes... Mother."
Gloria sighed and responded, "I would prefer Mom or Mommy, but I guess Mother is a start."
Myra nodded and pushed Luis behind her as Gloria reached out a hand to stroke Myra's hair, "That's my good girl."
Gloria then shifted her attention towards me and glared, "Suzy, I'm going to take a nap in mine and Sebastian's room. Do this the dishes in the sink and watch my children."
I ignored her, so she huffed and walked into Sebastian's room. I looked over at Myra who was shaking and watching her intensely and breathed a sigh of relief when the door slammed shut. Luis peered over her shoulder and once again, I was in astonishment. He was an exact replica of Sebastian with the same mousy brown hairs and the same sweet, deep chocolate brown eyes. His eyes looked at me with curiosity as Myra kept him pushed behind her.
I crept closer a little bit and smiled once more at her, "Hi there, I'm Savannah. I think if we keep our voices down, then the witch will stay asleep and won't bother us."
Myra stifled a smile, but cave in and grinned at me with a little chuckle. She looked at the door again and leaned in to whisper, "Gloria would get drunk or high off drugs when we were little, so she would sleep a lot. When that happened, Luis and I would play hideaway in the closet and we would pretend we were in places like Narnia."
That took me off guard a bit, but I kept my composure as I wanted her to see that I didn't see her as different. I gave her a smile and responded, "That sounds like fun. The Narnia Chronicles were one of favorite when I was younger, although if I'm being honest I did prefer Neverland. They had mermaids and fairies."
