Chapter 14: Who Else Aside from Me?

PANTING, Luna let go of him first because of the sole reason that she cannot breathe anymore.

While on the other hand, Konrad seemed like he wanted more because of the way his lips quickly followed her movement. However, she immediately dodged that and made him kiss only her left cheek. Then, he looked at her as if he was still in a trance while his cheeks were slightly painted red.

Because of the look he was giving as if a predator to its prey, Luna's ears immediately turned red.

When realization hit him, his whole body turned jelly that made him hide his face on the left side of her neck.

Was that really Crostelia who kissed her?! Where did the gentle kitten version of her hide?!

Ah! Right! It is Luna now. Though he didn't care that much. Any name would suit her beauty.

"Is this still you?" the young man asked breathlessly while his face was still buried on the girl's neck.

She smelled like newly bloomed flowers in spring, he thought.

"Yes. I think this is the part of me that was caged," she replied calmly even though she was already bursting inside.

Well, that was what her conclusion led to her. Either way, how could she explain her sudden change of behavior? How? She might get accused of being fake. He might think she was a scheming person who was only acting good to be on his side and she didn't want that.

"You're nervous. Goodness! You finally got nervous, my lady," Konrad blurted out while still panting upon hearing the sudden change of Luna's heartbeat.

"Why? What did I do wrong?"

"You didn't do anything wrong. I was just shocked-I still am! I never thought you'd do something like this," he replied with amusement.

"I was just thinking of it. I didn't realize I've already done it," she said as she tried covering her face with her palms.

"Let's just forget about this. I still have a lot of questions to ask."

"Oh, come on. You can't make me forget something like this, princess. But you can start throwing questions now."

"What happened to the person who tried to infiltrate the school by posing as a librarian and your mother? How did she know about me?"

Konrad sighed as he raised his head off her neck and took his projection crystal in his pocket using his right arm while his left arm was supporting Luna's back.

Minutes passed; the projection crystal started to show things that had happened while she was in pain because of her curse.

Since the crystal only showed Konrad's point of view, the only thing she could see was herself from afar while trying to walk home and enduring the pain she was feeling in her heart.

The view stayed the same for a moment until an ugly man with a small figure appeared in front of her. He was laughing like a mad person. He was looking everywhere as if trying to see if anyone would see him. Then, his face suddenly dissolved before it changed to the face of the current queen of the Stoneheart Kingdom, Konrad's mother!

"Your presence that felt the same with the rightful one of the past reached them so they asked me to find and kill you. But I won't! I will use you until every power in this world would become mine! I will turn you into my slave!"

After hearing everything the man said, that was the moment Konrad appeared and killed him using a sword that made his head roll on the ground while his eyes were opened as if it had not sunk yet that he already died.

Then, the projection crystal stopped glowing so he put it back inside his pocket as he faced Luna.

"Why did you do that for me?" she asked, that made the atmosphere turn colder.

Silence enveloped the room as Konrad did not immediately reply.

Why wouldn't he reply? Maybe because he realized how he wasted his time caring for her.

"I can't remember the exact date I saw you at the school but you were still tiny that time. Since then, I started watching over you. I was always watching you. Maybe that can be considered stalking? I never really had the courage to talk to you because of my two identities but then this year, I finally had a chance to. You don't know how happy I was that time but you were happily telling me stories about your crush that's why I wasn't completely happy. I wanted to crush his face until he died after our first encounter, you know? When my other personality acted up, I was happy and conflicted since he likes you too."

Luna's mouth gaped upon hearing Konrad's words filled with sincerity.

"You may ask why now and not before, well... I don't know either. I just always find myself being so nervous when I'm near you that I couldn't even talk without stuttering."

Was that a confession? She didn't know what to say, as if she lost her tongue at that moment.

"You asked me why I did it for you, right? I did everything because I don't want you to die. Seeing you in pain is a lot more bearable than seeing you dying because of me. I like you, Luna. I like you a lot. You don't have to respond to my feelings. I just want you to know it."

And that was how their conversation ended. Because Luna didn't manage to say anything, they stayed in the room with an awkward silence until Shelaine got back and saw their unbearable situation.

AFTER that confession, she never saw Konrad's silhouette again in their house. Whatever his reasons for not showing up, she didn't know. Maybe he was saddened because of her silence during that time. Who knew? Only him.

"Luna, what are your plans now? Are you going back to the university?" Shelaine asked her to wake up her wandering soul.

Right now, they are in their home's living room while discussing important things that need to be settled.

"As much as possible, I don't want to go back to that school anymore since I already want to create my own magic guild. However, it's impossible to easily make one in a short period of time without complications. That's why I'm considering the idea of joining a fair guild that would accept me. I also want to gather my own people," the young lady replied while traces of burning determination were visible inside her eyes.

"But of course, I need to be stronger first. Once I get stronger and have perfect control over my magic, I would start gathering at least four or five people and make them my followers."

"To do that, you'll need an outstanding master to teach you everything that you'll need to know. Also, since you want to join a magic guild, you'll also need to graduate in a magic school and pass the licensure exam for mages," Shelaine said meaningfully, whose tone, if Luna wasn't mistaken, seemed to be boastful.

The young lady nodded at what she found out. She didn't hesitate to believe because even though she and Shelaine seemed to be at the same age, what did she know? Shelaine could always change her physical appearance. What if her age was already around a hundred years?

"Is that so? I guess I don't have a choice. But, who would you refer to me?"

The edge of Shelaine's lips curved upon hearing Luna's question. Then, she smiled sweetly before confidently pointing at herself.

"Who else? Of course, it's me!"
