Chapter 32: A Simple Reason

"WHAT'S your name?" he heard a woman's voice near him say.

For whom is the question directed to? To him? Or is she talking to someone else? But they have no other companion aside from the other guy with him and the other girl. It seems like the person asking already knows the rest of their people captured with them. If so, is she talking to him?

After he helped her, they didn't say a word so she was a little surprised because she was talking to him. No one wanted to talk to him in his whole life. Usually, he was always being shouted at but that can't be called a conversation if two people aren't conversing and the other one is just accepting, right?

"Can't you see me? Is the room still too dark for you or you just can't simply see?" the girl asked in a tone filled with curiosity as she gently tapped his shoulder that made it clear to him that she was really talking to him and not to the other people in the room.

"I have no sight. I am blind. Blinded," he replied immediately.

He wasn't sure how to act. Only now did he talk to someone again. Did he answer correctly? Is it too short? Is the tone okay?

"Your life has been difficult, I'm sure. Do you want to come with me? I'll make sure your dark world turns colorful again," she said. The girl who surprised him seemed certain that made him wonder. How can she be so certain?

Pity was not on the woman's tone that people who usually talk to her often use aside from those who always use their angry tone. Her voice was filled with nothing but determination, care and warmth that immediately pierced through his calloused heart, caressing it gently as if she was patching and binding up the wounds.

When was the last time he felt this thing? He could no longer remember. He didn't even seem to remember anyone who cared for him once in his lifetime. Even his parents, since he came to his senses, have done nothing but blame him for all their anger and misfortunes in the world.

It was fun and heartwarming. It was as if his heart was being filled—no, it was overflowing with joy. Since the death of his spirit from a long time ago, he seemed to be suddenly resurrected.

"You don't have to cry. For now, I'll be your eyes so, stay tuned," the girl said gently and sincerely.

Oh? He was already crying with joy yet he wouldn't even know if only the woman hadn't just said that.

He tried to wipe away his embarrassing tears but to his surprise, he felt her warm palm wipe away his tears that made him even happier.

From the time he grew up, no one cared about him even until he became blind, which is why the young man feels so much happiness right now even with just small kind gestures.

"I'm Luna. What's your name again?" the girl said to him, openly ignoring their other two companions as if they had a world of their own.

The young man fell silent and then tried to remember his name for a few moments but he failed. Throughout his life, only the nicknames that were given to him where he was also called at were useless, blind and worthless. It happened for such a long time until he completely forgot the real name that was given to him.

The young man was in daze until he felt on his skin the warmth of Luna. He quivered upon feeling the girl's light tap on his cheek, as if taking his attention back to her.

"Ah! I'm sorry if I wasn't able to answer your question earlier. That was because, I can't remember the name that my parents gave me when I was born or... I'm not sure if they did give me one," the man said bashfully to the girl who felt even more sorry after hearing a little about his background.

Who are the parents of this person?! Why didn't they even bother to give him a name? How could they be so cruel to a guy as innocent as this one!?

The girl is annoyed but she can't do anything about it because it's already over. All she had to do now is to think of a name that would suit the man next to her.

"If that's the case, can I give you a new name?" Luna said when she thought of a good name.

The young man felt as though he also turned deaf as the time stopped after hearing what the woman just said to him, which is why he could not answer her question immediately. Why? Why would she name him? What is he to her? He is just a simple useless blind man that is why even his own parents just threw him away and sold him for their own sake. So, why? He doesn't understand. He could not understand. Analyzing her actions and intentions towards him, it wasn't a pity. Then if it's not, then what is making her want to be so kind to him? His mind doesn't seem to function right the more he tries to think about it.

"W-Why? Why do you have to bother giving me a name?" the man asked as his voice cracked and trembled because of the mixed emotions that flowed in him.

"Hmm ... Why is that? Because you don't have a name," Luna replied casually as she smiled carefreely although the man could not see her.

Upon hearing that reply from the girl, the man was astounded. That's it? Seriously? Just because he doesn't have a name, she'll bother thinking of one for him? Really? How could she be so kindhearted?

"Why? Does naming you have to have a deeper meaning or something?" Luna said after noticing that the one she's conversing with is not saying anything.

"No. You are right. Please, feel free to choose a name that you think will suit me," he said as he smiled beautifully, making Luna stunned and blinded as she felt as if the boy suddenly shone. Well, he is really handsome.

"Starting from now on, you will be called Yuhan!" the maiden said in a tone filled with energy while she was applauding, as if a kid being given a new toy to play with.

"BECAUSE it looks like you all already have had enough rest, let's start leaving this place now," Luna said as if a strict teacher as she immediately supported Yuhan to stand up.

The girl immediately marched towards the closed door with Yuhan on her side and did not care if the other two followed or not. Who cares about extra baggage?

Then, Luna was about to touch the closed door when suddenly, they heard three consecutive crashes from the outside. Because of that, the maiden immediately felt as though her blood was awakened and rushed through her veins. Her exhilaration was like a candle lit by fire that made her face feverish. She was so excited because of the action that might be waiting for them outside—since that was the only reason that she let themselves be abducted—so she quickly opened the door using only her fist. She punched it with her gentle strength.

However, the effect of it was not gentle at all.

The two at the back were stunned when they saw what happened to the poor door after Luna punched it. Just one blow and it was able to spew away while making a loud crash. And although Yuhan could not see it, he also knew the woman did something amazing.

"Oh? What's with the new last batch of our catch? Why do they all seem to want to go back to sea?" one of the men who was revealed after Luna wrecked the door, said with his eyebrows raised. There were four of them and just based on their aura alone, Luna knew that those people are someone who cannot be trusted.

"Rebel fish?" the other one said.

"Do you think you can still escape?" another guy said as he laughed so loud as if they already won a battle.

While the three were busy spouting nonsense, the other man next to them was silent. He seemed to look different from the three. Handsome, eh? He looks like he just got lost while the other three were all dust. They don't even look like they're really friends, anyway. It looks like the different one was just forced to get along with the others. However, from the looks of it, it's obvious from the way the different guy stares that he is a person who hates the world. Even his whole aura was like shouting; don't talk to me, lowly creatures! He looks like a worthless king seated on the throne who cared for anything in the world but himself.
