Chapter 26: In the World, Only Power Matters

Luna bursted out laughing because of the sudden turn of events. At first, she thought that the five who were blocking her way were companions. Who would have thought that there was someone who'd try to accuse their member just because of his fear of dying? In the first place, why would she believe that coward? Who knows, maybe he was trying to point at someone else when in fact, it was really him who thought of blocking her way? She had no plans to kill them, she was just planning to scare them a little but now, who knows where things will go?

Luna raised her head as she looked up at the sky. It's amazing how fast people can become selfish and make decisions as long as their lives depend on it. Even if it was a decision that was not thought carefully, even if another life could be endangered, just so they could save their own life, huh?

Ah... She wondered, would she become like that too? If she was also placed in a tight situation where life and death was the only thing that mattered, just what would she choose?

What's more amusing and surprising was that, it seems the betrayal of the coward was even faster than when he threw a knife to her. Really funny.

Luna slowly lowered her head. A few minutes more, her shoulders could be seen raising up and down. Is she crying? The clueless people thought.

"This is so hilarious!" the girl exclaimed as she bursted laughing while holding her stomach. She almost rolled on the grass as she teared up because of the clownery of the people in front of her.

As a result, the eyes of the five widened as they stared at her in shock. How can a woman be so beautiful!? Even her laughter was so captivating as if they were listening to the voice of an angel. However, that's it. Based on the actions that she showed earlier, they already know that she was just a demon with an angelic appearance but she is far from an angel.

A few minutes passed before Luna's laughter ended. She was wiping the edges of her eyes that teared up because of her excessive laughter until her expression suddenly became serious.

The light that was inside the maiden's eyes when she was laughing seemed to have withered like a leaf on a dry branch. And this change was quickly noticed by people who were intently observing her actions. When they tried to stare at them, it was as if they were staring at the night sky without the moon and stars—as pure darkness.

"Since you love living so much, I'll give you a little chance to escape. I'll turn around and then I'll let you all go. I'll give you sixty seconds to run as fast as you can. If I hadn't caught you then you're free and if I did..." she said with a mischievous tone before pausing, that made her five prey anxious.

"Well. I'm really not sure. Who knows what comes to mind?" Then she grinned.

After voicing out her thoughts, the area fell into a deep silence where they could even hear the sound of the mellow wind passing by as swift as the birds in the sky that were migrating.

"What do you think about my plan? You can talk to each other about it for two minutes. I'll leave you guys for a while."

Luna's voice cracked the silence. Then, she really left them as she suddenly disappeared from their sights. However, the wrap around their bodies was still there.

The four, since they don't have many choices, immediately agreed in their minds even without hearing each other's opinion. However, there was a single person in that group who immediately had suspicions about it. The moment he heard about her suggestions, he already suspected that there might be something up since what the woman said sounded as if a crow turned white—impossible! Who in their right mind would let their prey go even when she already has them? It just didn't sit right to him.

Eventually, Russu's four companions agreed with what the strange woman had said. They started a game that the woman seemed to like even without him expressing his own opinion because he was also sure that his colleagues would not listen to him so why would he even bother wasting his saliva to do something meaningless?

When the girl returned, the game started immediately. The captives quickly ran away as soon as the thread was removed. One even fell to the ground a few times but still continued his race as if by the time he would stop running, he would die.

And then, when the four had already vanished from her sight, Luna wondered why there was still someone who hadn't run and just stood in front of her—as if observing her actions.

"I knew it. It's not like you'll really follow what you have said. If you really want to kill us, why don't you just do it and stop playing with us as if we are your toys? You can do that, right? With your power, you can kill us all in a blink," Russu said in full annoyance that made Luna pay attention to him.

She chuckled, which offended and made Russu angrier at the situation. However, she laughed because of two reasons; his face looked hilarious with an angry expression; second, because of what he said that she found pathetic.

"My, my... It's not like I really planned to kill you all. I was planning to let you all escape after I taught you a lesson not to mess with me but you're so stubborn not to go," she said with a stern look in her eyes. Then, she laughed sarcastically that somehow made her look like an insane woman to Russu's eyes.

"Well, to make it clear, yes, I'm really powerful. Anyhow, it's not my fault that I'm more powerful than the rest of you. Besides, how can a powerful person be at fault for being powerful when that person exerted a lot of effort to be who she is now? " she said with a little hint of annoyance because of how the guy sounded earlier—as if disregarding her hard work—while emphasizing almost every word she spoke.

It was as if it was a wrong choice for her to choose to be strong. Like, really? After all the hardships she encountered? It was like an insult, that's why she was very irritated.

"You can't ask someone strong to be weak just because you are weak. That's not how the world goes. It doesn't just revolve around you. You can't ask your opponents to be weaker. You can only strive to be stronger in order to fight them. In this world, only power matters. The strong ones remain standing tall while the weak ones only get trampled on. I learned the hard way, you know? If you can understand what I was trying to say, that's good for you and if you don't, well, maybe you also need to learn the hard way," Luna said emotionally with a bittersweet smile on her lips that made Russu feel awe because of the feelings were conveyed with her words.

Just what did she encounter before to make her say something like that? He thought.

"Now, you go. But before that, maybe you can suggest some shops here where I can find good quality weapons," the girl said as she scratched her head.
