Day 391

That day was the day Charlotte and Ed's wedding took place. They were happy and ready to leave the city, but Gotham doesn't just let you get up and leave. And even if it does, it's certainly not for long. Gotham has some sort of magnet that always pulls you back in. Or maybe it's just the residents of that cursed island who can't stay away.

It's home.

Oswald wanted to fight for his home one last time. He planned to leave with Charlotte and Ed on that submarine, but he couldn't bear the thought that the city of his heart would be ruled by that steroid-enhanced gorilla everyone was now calling Bane.

'Bane... What a stupid name,' he thought to himself.

Charlotte and Ed Nygma followed suit. Mostly because Charlotte didn't want to leave Gotham either. Ed thought leaving was best for Charlotte. He wanted her to be safely away from Bane. He hurt her pretty badly and he wasn't willing to risk that happening again. But Ed did whatever made Charlotte happy. She wanted to stay, so obviously he would stay too.

The couple went back to the library to prepare for battle.

Ed put on music to lighten the mood. The sound of 'We'll Meet Again' by Vera Lynn Charlotte helped him fix his green suit and his black, silver, and purple tie. He put on new gloves and grabbed the ace card with the green question mark and placed it back on the pocket over his chest.

Charlotte took the wedding dress off and was now wearing a black jumpsuit, black leather boots that reached her knees, and fingerless leather gloves.

"Keep smiling through. Just like you always do. 'Till the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away". Charlotte sang softly along with the music as she pulled the zipper up. Ed stepped in front of her and took the zipper from her hands.

"It goes up, Ed," Charlotte reminded him as she saw him pulling the zipper down.

A mischievous smile appeared on his lips. "You sure?" He proceeded to kiss her neck, one hand around her waist while the other continued to slowly pull the zipper down. Together they swayed to the rhythm of the song.

"Yeah," Charlotte answered, but she let out a shaky breath as he continued placing kisses on her neck. His left hand moved from her waist and slid under the jumpsuit. Charlotte felt the leather of his glove touch her skin and move to her back, causing another shaky breath to escape through her lips.

Ed's lips touched hers as his right hand reached the end of the zipper. He was beginning to undress her, forgetting all about the war going out outside. However, Charlotte remembered what they still needed to do and stopped Ed from taking off her jumpsuit. There was a war to win and even though they preferred to make love rather than engaging in said war, they couldn't.

"We can't," Charlotte told him when she moved her lips away from his. "It's time to go".

"I know". With a sigh, Ed pulled the zipper up. He placed one last kiss on her shoulder before stepping away. "Let's end this".
