Twenty-four

July 10th, 1997

Just twenty-one days before the potter twins 17th birthday

Just like December 17th 1997 managed to become Alex's most happiest day, this one became her worst

This one made the girl want to scream and cry for the rest of her life, because this day took the most important thing away from her.

But the day didn't start out bad, in fact it had started out perfect

Wrinkles made breakfast, Draco read to Eleanor as Alex listened as well

Draco then had to go to town for a few hours, leaving Eleanor and Alex alone.

Wrinkles was off doing god knows what, so that left Alex to play with her daughter

"What would you like to do today love?" The brunette asked her blonde daughter, who's hair seemed to be growing longer by the day

The baby simply laughed up at her mother

"Can you say mama for me Eli? Say mama" Alex said as she made sure to over pronounce the word she wanted Eleanor to repeat back to her

After a few more attempts, Alex decided it was best to leave it as is.

So she picked up the infant and made her way to the back yard where Eleanor would run around and play for about two hours until draco came back.

Once the baby's father arrived, they all got ready for dinner and ate together.

"I've got a surprise for you" Draco said once everyone had finished eating

"Oh should I get Eleanor ready?" Alex asked as she placed the dirty plates in the sink

Draco kissed her cheek and shook his head, "wrinkles will watch her, we'll only be gone for an hour or two"

The girl nodded her head and slipped on her shoes

"I'll see you later baby" Alex said as she hugged Eleanor and placed a kiss on her forehead

"Mama and dada love you" Draco said as they walked out the door.

Alex didn't know where they were going, tho she's been at the house all summer she didn't really get to know it's surroundings

After a few minutes of walking Draco stopped on what seemed to be the middle of nowhere, there was nothing special about the place

It had trees, a bench and some bushes

Draco grabbed the girls hand and pulled her closer to him, "we never did get our Dance at the Yule ball" he said as he started swaying his body while humming

Alex let out a short laugh before swaying along with him, she closed her eyes to the sound of his voice, it calmed her

Then it started raining, but that didn't stop the two from dancing, "you're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen" Draco said as he lifted the girls head to plant a kiss on her lips

Her hands naturally found their way to his hair, messing it up as she tugged slightly

His hands moved from her face down to her waist, pulling her closer until there was no space between them

It was magical, everything a girl could dream of, a kiss in the rain with the love of her life

But then she saw it, she saw the flames, but not from her eyes, from his.

She saw the cottage on fire, then she saw Eleanor, crying so loudly as the evil sick white hands reached down to grab her

"It's happening Alexandria"

The girl broke apart from Draco, "the house is on fire!" She shouted as she began to run back in the direction of the cottage

Before she even got close she saw it, the once perfect house being eaten in flames

She ran as fast as her legs could carry her

She heard Draco shouting her name from behind her, but she couldn't wait for him, she had to get to Eleanor

As she kicked down the front door she grabbed her wand a shouted "Aguamenti" making water fly out and putting some of the flames out with it

But there was to much fire, she covered her face and quickly ran up the stairs, only stopping when she saw wrinkles lifeless body on the ground

She let out a soft whimper before breaking down the door of Eleanors room

And there she was, in the hands of the Devil himself

The man who had part of his soul in Alex and her brother

The man that made Alex want to die for so long

"Let go off her!" Alex yelled as she coughed

She couldn't really see him, her eyes were watering due to all the smoke

She felt her lungs start to fill up so she took out her wand and pointed it at the dark wizard

"Let her go!" She said one more time, but still he made no moves

"Alexandria, protecter of all man kind, fails to save the life of her daughter" He lifted up his wand and pointed it to the baby's neck

Everything went in slow motion after that, she remembered jumping forward to try and use her own body as a shield, but it was to late

Eleanors body dropped to the ground, the once laughing bright baby was dead

And the killer had disappeared in thin air

Alex remembered crying so loud and hard she chocked on the smoke, she remembered calling out for her daughter

She remembered holding her lifeless body in her arms and somehow managing to run out of the house, where Draco was

"She's dead Draco, I couldn't save her" the girl weeped as she fell to the feet of her boyfriend

And then she remembered feeling draco pick her up, along with Eleanors body that Alex refused to let go of.

And then she was at a hospital, with burns all over her left arm, but that didn't hurt, not compared to the shattered heart that now sat inside of her

Not as much as the sight of Draco sobbing and calling out his daughters name

Not as much as the look on Harry's face when she told him

So Alex didn't care that she was in the hospital bed, she didn't care that people around her were crying

All she cared about was the fact that she no longer had a daughter

She was broken

So the love she would die for, was dead

She failed as a mother, as a sister, as a girlfriend as a human

She was done.
