I slowly sat up; I had no idea where I was. I looked around and saw Nathan sitting on a log clutching his head and looking towards the ground. He seemed to be muttering something which I couldn’t make out.

He shook his head and looked up slightly and caught a glimpse of my staring at him. He was pulling his hand down his face but then sat up straight.

I was starting to get a little scared at this moment, not only was I in a place that I haven’t been before, but I was also next to a guy who I barely know and is almost twice my size, if that.

He stood up and walked towards me. I shuffled away along the grass.

‘Wait, no, it’s OK… I won’t hurt you.’

‘Why should I trust you’, I muffled out.

‘You don’t need to trust me… you just need to listen’.

‘Listen to what’?

‘I have a bit of… well… explaining to do…’

‘A lot of explain to do actually’

‘Yeah… ‘

‘Where are we?’

‘I’ll tell you… later.’

‘Fine then… what’s going on?’

‘We’re different from other people… We’re not human’

‘We’re?’

‘Now I know this might come as a shock but… just stay calm’

‘What are we then?’, I said thinking this was just a practical joke

‘We’re… different, there’s not a real name for what we are but most just call us Guardians’.

‘So… you think I’m one of these Guardians?’

‘I don’t think… I know’

‘What? How?’

‘When we first touched… the effect it had on you… yeah… sorry about that’

‘Does this happen a lot?’

‘It’s not very common at all to find a Guardian the way I did… Well it’s never happened… ‘

‘What are Guardians then?’

‘They’re… angels.’

I reached for my head as it was still throbbing.

‘I don’t expect you to believe me yet but… let me show you something.’

He took off his shirt and revealed a tight thick bandage.
