Chapter 8
Having Monique in the room made me really uncomfortable because I didn't know what she was doing there. She wanted answers about Jayden, answers which I wasn't going to give to her because he was not any of her business.
"So tell me Ariana, is this Jayden guy your imaginary boyfriend? I wouldn't be surprised if he was because you're too much of a bitch to be asked out anyway. And by the way, I hope you had fun trashing the school.." As she said this, she shot Mr Gray a look that said don't-blame-her-it-was-me. It was obvious that she had commited the crime, but Mr Gray was too blind to see even that.
"Enough Miss Baker, Jayden is none of you business. Now, Ariana, your mother has been notified and is not very impressed. She will have a talk to you when you get home. Thank you for the information Miss Baker; you are both dismissed." I stood to get up, confused about what had just happened. I couldn't believe I got suspended for doing nothing all day. They didn't even investigate it. Monique must have been popular enough to win the principal over with that big useless sob story of hers.
I let her win. I should've said something. I went to grab the door knob when Monique whispered in my ear "Bye bitch. You won't get to see your precious Jayden for the next two weeks. I hope you don't return." I felt like slapping her across the face, instead I threw open the door and ran for the oval, looking for Jayden. Thank God Monique went to the eating hall. The dinner bell rang as I ran from her.
I found Jayden at the oval kicking a ball and I ran over to him to give him a big hug, tears streaming down my face. He returned the hug and let his chin rest on my head.
"What's the matter?" he asked concerned. I let go of him and looked him in the nose. "I've seen you three times today and two time out of the three you've been crying. Come, let's go sit down and you can tell me what happened." He took my hand and dragged me toward the basketball court and made me sit on the silver seats under the protection of the shelter.
He realised I was looking at his nose and pulled out a pair of black Ray-Bans. I didn't know they existed in Australia.
"Try and look me in the eyes." I did.
"See anything?" I shook my head no.
"Good. Now spill. I don't like seeing you cry, but it seems to happen a lot."
"I'm not usually this... useless you know. You probably think I'm some sensitive baby who can't handle her own problems."
"I don't think that of you. I don't care whether you're crying or not, you seem like a great girl and when you are crying and I'm there to help, I will. If you don't wanna talk about it, don't worry. I understand..." He reached over and wiped a tear from my eyes, his big smooth hands almost swallowing my face whole. I smiled at him and felt a weird sense of déjà-vu. I ignored it and concentrated on telling him what happened.
"Well, I kinda got suspended."
"What? Already! It's only been a day! What did you do? You don't look like a bad girl." He said with smirk.
"Look, let me explain. I didn't go anywhere or do anything today. It wasn't me who trashed the school and almost killed that blonde girl."
"You got suspended for trashing G block? I could've sworn it was Monique and her annoying friend Rebecca David."
"I had a feeling it was them. But how did you know? Because now I am suspended and my mum will be so pissed off she'll probably send me to Green Day."
"But you can't get in there without a 'talent.'"
"Hello, Sight seer. Ring a bell?"
"Oh right. I so forgot about that. Sorry."
"It's not your fault. People are forgetful. But how did you know it was Monique and Rebecca? I mean, you were in class weren't you? Hold up. Don't tell me you have some weird power or something like me? 'Cause I remember the principle telling me you went to GDA with a different name."
