Chapter 61 Meanwhile in Xadia...

The same girl as before in the Mickey Mouse pajamas tapped enter repeatedly.

"That's funny." She muttered, typing in some commands. The laptop refused to do anything. She sighed. Since last time, her hair had been hacked short, proof of quarantine. She no longer wore her braid, but instead wore her bangs 'stupidly long'.

"Sky. Wake up." She whispered across the room. The lump on one of the beds shifted.

She waited. "Sky! Up and at 'em!"

"F you to h-e double toothpick, Ate!" Sky grumbled without opening her eyes. "It better be 11:50 already."

"Nope, not yet New Year's." The first girl said. "But I have a problem."

Sky sighed and sat up, blinking blearily and glaring. "Fine. Shoot, before I shoot you."

"I can't see into Xadia." She said panickedly. "Something's blocking me. I can't even sense what Chant is feeling. Not Len, not Alesa, not any of my characters!"

"That's because they're fictional, idiot." Sky scolded. "Anyways, why would it matter? Nothing's wrong in your precious little fanfic-"

A black, swirling void opened in the middle of the room. The girl stumbled back as a blast of freezing air swirled around the room. A man with pitch black eyes and pulsing purple veins across his face stepped into the room, a giant caterpillar curled around his neck. Slowly, he smiled.

"I must thank you for raising my strength, Raine Michaela Sanchez." Viren chuckled. Raine stared in horror as the very words he said appeared on the screen, typed by invisible fingers. She flung the laptop at him, but it shattered before ever reaching him.

Think! Raine thought. What was the last thing that I remember happening in Xadia?!

"Sir." She said mockingly. "Are you waddling?" Because... He'd been kicked.

Viren scowled. "Of course not!"

This is my creation! Raine thought desperately. I should be able to control him!

Raine pictured Viren punching himself in the face, and his fist swung towards his nose before stopping. Huh?!

​​​​​"Very clever, to try and control me." Viren snorted. "But remember what I told you last time, Raine Michaela. I control this story now."

Raine was blasted back, slamming into the wall. She slid down onto the desk, then glared at him. "First off, I spell my name McKeyla. And stop using it! Second, you can't control my story. I am my story! Third, look behind you."

Viren laughed. "As if I'd be stupid enough to look, Raine McKeyla. ​​​​​​​​​​And if I can't control the story without you, I'll just have to d-"

"Die? Please do." Sky said as Viren fell to the ground with a surprised look and a knife in his back. "Also, I told you McKeyla was a stupid name."

Both gasped in surprise as Viren got to his feet. He smiled evilly. "You didn't really think your toy could stop me, did you?" He laughed, and the knife flew out of his back and into Sky's arm. The sisters screamed as they were sucked into the void.

Then the clock struck midnight, and fireworks exploded in the sky.
