"How could you do that?!?!" I yell in Callum's face.

"Do what?!?!" He screams back.

"Treat your best friend since childhood like that!" I scream.

"Callum, you have to say sorry to her!" Ellis yells.

"Guys, stop!" Ezran screams. "There's a better way to solve this!"

"Actually, yeah." Jamie says. "You heard her. Let's solve this at recess."

We all nod. This is war.

It's recess. Genelyn and Rayla stand on opposite ends of the basketball court. The whole school stands on Genelyn's side, even some of the Music Makers. The only ones who stand behind Rayla are me, Ellis, and Ezran. Jamie, Matthew, and Ravi stand in the middle with Callum.

I squeeze Rayla's hand. She looks at me funny and takes her hand back. Her violet eyes are dark and stormy. She's wearing her usual attire of T-shirt, leggings, sneakers, and hoodie.

I look across the court to Genelyn, who's strutting like a peacock. She's wearing a sleek pink dress, and the maximum amount of makeup. I wrinkle my nose in disgust. This is the girl Callum likes? Ew.

The wind blows, dramatically sweeping dust across the court. This situation is so bad I swear Rayla looks like she's going to laugh.

Jamie holds up his hands for silence. When that doesn't work, Ravi puts his fingers to his mouth and blows a piercing taxicab whistle. Everyone falls silent at that.

"Students of Ivywood-" Jamie gives up. His voice is weirdly shrill. Instead, he tells Ravi something.

"Students of Ivywood!" Ravi bellows. "Today, we are ending this once and for all!!! We have gathered here today at a suggestion from Rayla Lunarson that may end the fighting- Callum should stay away from one girl. Therefore, we decide it now before anymore blood is shed." The crowd claps. Everyone looks at Callum. He's standing with his head down.

For a moment, everything stands still. Time freezes us like bugs in resin, slowly hardening.

Then Callum looks up, and everyone breaths in. Who will he choose? For his sake, I hope he picks right.

He starts walking, and his course takes him to our side. His gaze locks on Rayla's. "I'm sorry." He says finally, then walks to Genelyn's side. I can practically hear her heart breaking. Finally she turns away. "Let's just get out of here." She says quietly.

There's nothing I can do to help.

In fact, there's nothing I can do about this at all.

Callum Harrowson made his choice.

I turn and follow Rayla, Ellis and Ezran behind me.

Callum's too far gone. I wonder how he'd act of he knew the truth about Genelyn.
