Author's Note: Hi guys! Sorry I haven't updated for so long, I've been kinda busy. Thanks for supporting and reading this book! So, as mentioned before, there will be a sequel (I'm an idiot. Haven't finished this one and already mapped out the summary of this book, TLOTDG, and a potential add on book), and this is related to it and actually has Snorlax sized spoilers. And because I haven't updated since forever, I present to you, the I'm Sorry Edition! Enjoy! ;)

I rolled over and sighed, my eyes raking the night sky as I drank in the soft, glimmering glow of the stars.

Armany, the sister of Khashun, turned to face me. "Can't sleep?"

I sat up, blinked, and shook my head. "No. Just... Something's wrong. I can feel it."

Khashun poked at the fire and sighed. His expression and facial markings were totally different from Armany's, his being swift and bold while Armany's were more curved and graceful. "Is this more of the junk about the so-called prophecy? 'Cause if so, Imma personally throw you off yonder cliff."

Armany and I rolled our eyes. Neither him nor Pele really believed in the prophecy of the Dark Mage, but is sensible girls did. However, unlike Pele, Khashun kept trying to shoot us down. "The prophecy says that 'scorned lunar child of the guards stood last, will return to save the world from our past'. That's got to be the daughter of Tiadrin and Lain!"

Khashun sighed again, this time more dramatic. "Sure. Reyna, who you met literally ONCE."

I huffed, exasperated. "First, her name's Rayla, and second, I've met her twice. She probably won't remember me, but still."

Armany's eyes darted back and forth as if she were watching an intense match of wingball, a game in which Skywings with wings need to hit the ball into the opponent's goal using only their wings.

Khashun growled. "She's probably going to remember a scary freak like ya, Sunwing." He commented without thinking.

My eyes widened involuntarily, and I hit my lip and turned away. Armany whacked her older brother over the head with her weapon, a staff similar to Tiadrin's.

Khashun flushed red when he realized what he'd done. That boy is like a toasted marshmallow. Stiff and burning on the outside, but gooey and warm and sweet on the inside. "I-I, I'm sorry, Kairn. I didn't mean that."

"It's fine. I'm used to it." I mumbled. I was a hybrid between a Sunfire elf and a Skywing elf, so I looked like a Sunfire elf with tawny colored wings. I liked to refer to myself as a Sunwing rather than a hybrid.

Khashun left the fire and came to sit with me. I smiled slightly to myself, even though I wouldn't admit it. Armany giggled in the background. Being 15 on the brink of 16, she enjoyed watching me and Khashun. I would never admit that she was right about liking Khashun anyways. Armany claimed that Khashun liked me back, but I wasn't gonna do anything. You bet your buttons not.

Footsteps sounded in the background. Only one person walks like that. It was Pele, back from his patrol. "Hello!" He greeted cheerfully.

The New Dragonguard nodded back to him. Khashun turned back to me. He was bright red. "Well, um, Kairn. We have known each other for such a long time, and I... Uh... I like you a lot."

Wait.

Wait a second.

Did he just..?

Squealing from Armany erupts in the background, and I hear groans from Pele as he pays her. Wait, they've been betting on us?!?! Should I be offended?! Khashun and I both face each other again, and he's even redder, if that's even possible. I can tell by the heat rising in my cheeks that I'm pretty red myself.
