I sat next to the bed, idly playing with Keigo's fingers while the doctor went over his recovery process, such as his physical therapy days and times, how to clean and change his bandages.
He was covered in lacerations, abrasions, and third degree burns, only confirming for me that it was a villain with some sort of fire quirk. He had a mild concussion and a stress fracture in his left wrist, not to mention the scarfe mb on his eye, and most importantly his wings.
I was still uninformed on that situation, currently all I learned was that two little nubs on his back were all that was left of them.
He had to practice walking again, just to make sure his legs were indeed fine. His balance was off and he stumbled like I did when I had my head injury, and though mine was more severe, he had endured much more trauma to the rest of his body.
When he grew frustrated I cheered him on, letting him know that it would take time until he was back to normal. I wouldn't just have to be there for him physically, but mentally as well.
We currently sat in a government driven car back to his house. He leaned his head on the window staring off into the fog. It was another gloomy day, something that matched the mood perfectly. I sympathized with him. All I could do was provide support for now.
I helped him out the car after he almost fell over doing it himself. He was going to be more stubborn than I was, but I wouldn't give up so easy. Our roles were reversed from the first time we met, now I would be taking care of him whether he liked it or not.
He still needed bed rest. The paper I was given said he shouldn't be doing too much exertion on his body, so that's where we headed.
I had my hands wrapped around him gently. "I know how to walk kid," he asserted. He wanted to squirm from me, I could tell by how quick he was trying to make it up the steps.
I didn't let go though, I was determined to help him through this. I sat him down on the bed, he managed to roll himself over and under his blankets before I had the chance to help. I sat down on the edge rubbing his shoulder.
I knew this was going to be hard to deal with, but I couldn't give up. I would never give up on him. "I'm going to put this medical supplies in the bathroom," I announced. I was given a basic first aid kit, along with his medication to treat any pain that he was to take every twelve hours. He would have to change his wound dressings at least once a day, so I made sure to set reminders on my phone for him to do so.
I left everything on the bathroom counter so it would be easy for him to access if he needed anything from it. I went back out to his bedroom. He had hardly said a word to me after we left the hospital, but that didn't matter, it would take time for him to accept what happened.
"Are you staying here until I'm better? You don't have to if you don't wanna," he croaked, still avoiding eye contact with me.
"Keigo, taking care of you in this state is the least I could do," I express. "I told you I have plenty of time, okay. I do have to go and get some things if I'm going to be staying here though."
"Okay, how long will you be?"
"Oh not long." I smiled now that I could teleport again, it would be rather quick and as of now the only places I was comfortable going to were his house, my apartment, and the old testing site. "I'll be right back." With a clear perception of my apartment in my mind, I blinked and I was there.
I pulled a bag out of my closet, throwing in a few pairs of jeans, sweatpants, shirts and pajama shorts. I made sure to grab Keigo's hoodie that I've been sleeping every night, I put a pile of underwear and socks on top before zipping up the bag.
