"Hey (Y/n), are you on break now?" I turned around being greeted by Yumiko.
"Yeah," I answered as I looked up from my phone
She continued. "So am I, do you wanna grab lunch together? There's a cafe right down the street that has amazing food."
I contemplated her offer for a second before agreeing, I was used to spending my lunch breaks alone. She waited for me while I grabbed my wallet, leading me to the cafe she had mentioned.
We sat at a table in the back corner while looking through the menu "Their sandwiches are amazing, but they also have soup, salads, and wraps. Whatever you're into."
When the waitress came back with our out drinks we placed our orders, I decided on a wrap, as I wasn't feeling too hungry right now. Once that was all said and done Yumi began to converse.
"So word on the street is you're working with that popular magazine company, Hero Culture right?"
I nodded, wondering how that got out. I didn't remember telling any of my coworkers about it.
"Lucky you," she proceeded. "You get a break from all of Jennifer's bullshit finally."
"Yeah tell me about," I laughed with an eye roll. "I want to quit so bad honestly, I have no problem with anyone else there, given I don't really talk to much people, but she makes working there literal hell."
Yumi nodded along as I explained the situation. "I told you she's going through a divorce right? But yeah, that doesn't give her a reason to take it out on you."
I agreed quietly allowing her to continue. "Don't let anyone know this, but after what happened friday, when Milo spilled hot coffee all over you and burnt your chest, since she pretty much blamed the whole thing on you, I contact the CEO of the company to let them know that many others and I think she's been abusing her power."
I gasped at the news. "Wait, really? What's gonna happen, are they gonna fire her?"
The goth girl smirked "Well worst case scenario is she just gets a slap on the wrist and suspended for a week, but if they do decide to fire her I'm the most fit for her position."
"No way!" I said excitedly. "I would choose to have you as my boss any day over her."
"Seriously!" she squealed with laughter "I've been eyeing her position for so long, after the events with her husband, her attitude has been getting worse by the day, and I think it's the perfect chance to remove her of her position. In the very least it will knock some sense into her hopefully."
We were interrupted by our food coming to our table, we continued to talk about other things going on at work. I was never one to pay much attention to drama or gossip, so this gave me the chance to learn a little more about things going on at the office that I was unaware of.
We headed back from our break. "I'll text you and let you know if we have any plans for this weekend." Yumiko waved me off letting, us both go back to our jobs.
I made sure to leave as soon as the clock struck four, leaving no time for any snooty comments to come from my shitty boss.
Tomorrow I would start my fist day on the magazine project. While I laid on the couch I browsed through my thoughts, wondering what heroes would be there; all I knew was that each hero was having their own magazine. The work would be spread out through four days, as I would be photographing four heroes per day. Saturday, my final day, I would spend at home, editing the photos the company had chosen for the magazine.
I couldn't help but wonder if Hawks would be there. Nah, he's been busy lately. I doubt he has the time for that sort of thing.
After my previous episode friday night when my quirk nearly acted up, I had distanced myself from him. Why did I think it was a good idea to answer his call while going through that. How could I have even described my situation if he saw me that way?
