Kentrell.........

FLASHBACK!!!!
Kentrell fixed the AK47 around his shoulder while his left hand held steady on to an Uzi  sub machine gun. He looked around cautiously seeing nothing but smoke and dust. More gunshots and explosions were being fired in the distance but it was nothing he wasn’t used to. This being his fourth year in the army he’d seen his own fair share of violence. He walked over bodies left and right the sight not even phasing him. No remorse, no compassion, nothing. He felt completely detached.

Turning another corner, he ducked back just in time to miss several bullets fired his way. He  hid behind the halfway blow off wall avoiding more fire. He rolled his eyes letting out a sigh then pulled out a grenade from his pocket. He removed the safety pin then threw it not even flinching when it went off. He heard more screaming and cries of agony. Standing up again he continued making his way through the crumbled walls and dead bodies. He’d never been in Prague before but he couldn’t exactly say he was happy to be here. The stench of burnt flesh invaded his nostril. He scrunched his face up pursing his lips up and spitting on the side.

“Gaulden you there?” he heard through the static on in ear piece.

“Yea. Headed south. All clear.” he responded eyes still scanning his surroundings for the enemy. He squinted his eyes watching movement ahead in the distance. He repositioned his gun ready for anything.

“No shoot…...please.” he heard a faint feminine voice ahead. She sounded scared but that still didn’t faze him. It could be a trick for all he knew. One could never be too careful.

“Who are you?” he demanded proceeding with caution. The woman let out words in a language he couldn’t quite understand. “Show yourself!” he ordered now stopping in his tracks but all the same keeping alert. A few seconds went by then he could finally make out the woman. She stood in front of him visibly shaking. Her clothes were in rags and she had blood all over. Her hair was messy some parts matted onto her scalp. He studied her quickly trying to decipher if she was a threat or just a harmless war victim.

“Hands up!” she did as instructed removing her hands from her stomach and shakily putting her arms up above her head. Seconds later after she did that, she stumbled her feet giving way making her land on the ground. Kentrell heard her yelp and groan in pain but before he could act on it, he heard multiple footsteps. Cussing under his breath, he closed the space between them and grabbed the woman by her hand dragging her along the ground and behind another falling out wall. He covered her mouth with his hand when she whimpered. He took his chance and peeped.

“Stay.” He demanded then followed the five men he could make out. He instantly shot at the them using the element of surprise to his advantage. He then went back to the woman. She looked pale and out of it. That’s when he noticed her bulging stomach. He froze up seeing blood. “uh….”he trailed off wondering what to do. “Porter- I got a situation outtea.” He snapped out of it his brain finally kicking in to action. All he heard back was more static. “Porter?......... Jonathan!” he screamed into the dusty air trying to catch his superior.
