On the back of the paper was a neatly drawn-out cartesian plane with each of the equations graphed.
"It's..."
"...a volleyball", Rei completed my sentence, "Man, whoever this person is, they either wanted us to painstakingly work on decoding it or they just really love maths. Heck, maybe even both", he continued to talk, scratching the back of his head.
"...Loves maths? That sounds oddly familiar..." I recalled my interaction with Student A in the classroom, "Nah, it must be a coincidence... Right?"
I quickly brushed off the thought, however, doubts still lingered in my mind.
"I've gotta tell Karasuno about this", I spoke solemnly with a grave expression on my face and turned around to exit.
"Wait a minute", Rei interrupted, causing me to turn around, "You must've found something out about the first section, haven't you?"
I gave a slight nod, "Yeah, the volleyball team tossed around ideas as to what it might've meant, and if this last section of the email is a volleyball... it makes one thing certain"
"What is it?"
"The first few numbers at the beginning would be the jersey numbers of Karasuno's first-years".
A faint expression of shock appeared on Rei's face before it returned to normal.
"Don't worry about it too much, yeah? I'm sure whatever this thing is about won't affect their lives too badly", he reasoned, giving a shrug.
"...I guess it's not really anything life-threatening...", I let out a deep breath, "Thanks for the graph"
"You're being unnervingly nice today and to be honest, I'm a little scared", Rei stared at me accusingly with beady eyes, shifting his chair backward.
I shot a ticked expression, combined with a smile, towards him and left the room.
I grabbed my phone once again off my table and scrolled through my list of contacts before stopping at Yuu.
"He's definitely gonna be awake. I just have a feeling", I concluded quickly and tapped on the 'Message' icon.
To: Yuu
hey u awake? do u guys have practice tomorrow?
*ding*
"Just as I thought", I mused and smiled at his quick reply.
From: Yuu
of course im awake! we dont have practice tomorrow tho. did u find something out?
To: Yuu
yea, i wanted to tell everyone as a group
From: Yuu
then lets meet up with everyone after school! we'll hangout somewhere and talk about it
To: Yuu
