Chapter 7
Embarrassed
"Seren, you know naman na ginagawa ko ang lahat para mapalitan na ang mga mata mo. You know that right?" She asked.
I stayed silent. I don't know why I suddenly feel unwell and a bit dizy. Thinking that she was lying on me made my heart ache. But beside of that a memory flased on my mind.
"Mommy, why lola treated Auntie Tamara like that?" A 10 years old me asking my mother about her sister.
"Baby, let's go back inside? Hmm, you should continue to eat." She said and ignored my question. She held my hand and bring me on the dining area again to continue my dinner.
We are in my grandparents house for their invitation of dinner. We started eating peacefully with my grandparents, naroon rin ang isang kapatid ni Mommy na si Tita Ellen kasama ang asawa nito at si Gian na pinsan ko. They we're busy talking about something related in business when my auntie Tamara got here with us and started talking nonsense about my grandparents. She looked drunk in her state.
My mother tried to stopped her but she was unstoppable, I got shocked when my grandmother come near her and slap her face. Napatayo si Lolo at ang akala ko ay tutulungan niya si Auntie at aawatin si Lola but he held Auntie's hair and dragged her outside.
Napasunod kaming lahat sa kanila sa labas, my grandmother was continue nagging her while slapping her face again three times.
"Is Auntie did something wrong?" I asked again. Nasa lamesa na ulit kami ni Mama at nasa labas pa silang lahat.
"Stop asking, baby. Focus on your food."
"Bad ba siya, Mommy?" Tanong kong muli at desperadang makakuha ng sagot dahil sa kuryosidad na nabubuo sa loob ko.
I was ten years old and growing and I can't avoid myself to be curious about something, especially if it's related to my family.
"Seren, you are still young to know this. Stop asking baby, and finish your food so we can go home."
"I am young? Gian is also young, Mommy."
"Gian was 4 years older than you."
"So he can know what is happening?" Nakangiwi kong tanong.
"Something like that Seren, continue your food anak and stop asking."
"If I'm am with the same age of Gian pwede ko ng malaman, Mommy?"
She sighed at tila hindi na magugustuhan ang kakulitan na ipinapakita ko. "Seren, listen to Mommy..." She stop and give me a smile before she continued.
"...you will know what's is happening sonner or later, iha. Lets the time to decide everything for you but as of now your mind is still young at alam ko namaguguluhan ka pa sa mga nangyayari. And remember this thing kapag nalaman mo na at naintindihan ang lahat, understand your auntie. She is not a bad person, she may do something wrong but I know that she is a good person nadadala lang siya ng damdamin niya." My Mom told me.
She said was true while growing up I suddenly realized and know everything why my grandparents treated harsh Auntie Tamara. I was twelve when my I heard one of classmates gossiping my Auntie, they said she was a drug user and when I heard that, I didn't think twice and fight my Auntie's image.
They laugh at me, they show me from her phone an article saying my Auntie is a drug usser. I immediately search and read the whole article and I can't believe Aunti Tamara's name was thier. Nagtanong agad ako kay Mama tungkol sa nabasa at narinig sa kaklase at ipinagtanggol niya rin sa akin ang kapatid niya.
