Chapter 24

Maddie's POV

That kiss was so amazing. It felt like fireworks and silk at the same time. I can't even explain it.

We arranged a date, making plans to go to the mountains tomorrow. I'm really excited, because the place we're going to is so beautiful.

"Hey Liam, wanna make some cookies?" I ask him, playing with his fingers.

"Well heck yea I do that sounds fantastic," he says.

His tone reminds me of a three year old and that makes me giggle. He grabs my hand and leads me to the kitchen. It's a beautiful kitchen in his home. Lots of beautiful brown cabinets and everywhere you look, there's a little passage of scripture on the wall.

"I didn't know you were so religious," I say smiling, touching the scriptures on the wall.

Now that I think about it, there were a lot of the same things hanging in his bedroom. I wonder if he put them up himself.

"Yeah, these are my favorite verses. I really depend on them when I'm feeling down. It's nice to know that God loves me for who I am," he replies.

I smile really wide, he's so sweet. It makes me really happy that he's religious like I am.

"Well that's really cool Liam, now let's get to some cookie baking!" I say.

He nods and pulls out all the ingredients. "Right, well I've got the absolute best recipe for chocolate chip cookies ever!"

"Oh is that so? Because I don't think it can contend with Bo's recipe for chocolate chip cookies," I counter, raising an eyebrow.

"Huh! Well I guess we'll just have to make both and test it out then!" He says poking my tummy. I cross my arms over it and frown.

"Hey, don't do that, what's wrong babe?" He says, seeing my mood change.

"I don't want you to poke my tummy and see how squishy it is," I frown.

He shakes his head rapidly, hugging me, "You're not squishy, you're perfectly healthy. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the way you look. In fact, you look exactly how a girl should look. Being so skinny that I can see your bones isn't attractive compared to being healthy. You look beautiful just the way you are, and I don't ever want you to think differently, ok?"

I can't help but smile and hug him back. "Thank you, Liam. I don't know how, but that made me feel a lot better in a matter of seconds."

And it's true. Him calling me beautiful really makes me feel beautiful. I could get used to this.
