Maddie's POV
I pull into the school parking lot and look at Liam, "Babe, you seem sick, are you ok?"
He nods and tries to hide his sniffles, "Yeah, I'm fine." But I can tell he's not, his eyes water and his nose is stuffed up.
I start the car again and pull out of the school lot. He looks at me confused and puts his hand on my knee.
"Where are we going?" He asks. He's really cute when he acts like he doesn't know what's going on, even though he does.
"I know you're sick Liam," I say stroking his forearm, "I'm taking you to urgent care, and after that we're staying home together. I'm gonna take care of you."
He smiles so wide I think his mouth may even pop off. "The only reason I didn't tell you was because I didn't want you to make me go home by myself. I had to see you today, I have to see you everyday. Thank you so much for taking care of me. Will your parents be mad?"
"They won't know, Bo's watching me and Bo knows how much I love you," I explain. Truly, Bo wants us to be together more than anyone. She tells me everyday that we're meant to be and that if we ever need anything, she'll be there to give it to us.
I love Bo so much, she is the best, most carefree, selfless grandmother ever. I don't know what I'd do without her.
I pull into the urgent care office and even though he's sick, Liam gets out and opens my door for me.
"You're so sweet and kind, thank you baby," I say, kissing his cheek. I then take his hand and lead him into the office.
I hate seeing Liam sick. He just looks so sad and miserable. The worst part is, there's nothing I can do to help him. I can only take him to the doctor and hope they can help him.
"I can barely breathe through my nose it's so stuffed up!" He points out, sniffling a bit more.
"I know babe, but don't worry, we're getting you checked out and then were gonna get you some rest," I say rubbing his back.
He nods, "Coach is gonna be so mad at me for missing practice."
I tilt his chin up to look at me, "I don't care how mad your coach is, he can shove it, because you're sick and need rest."
I kiss him softly and hug my very sick boy.
Liam sighs, clearly being relaxed by the small circles I rub into the back of his neck. "That feels so good, my back is so sore."
I pull him to sit down at the waiting area and immediately go back to massaging his back and shoulders.
"Thank you again for skipping school to care for me, no ones ever cared about me that much before," he says looking down. My heart breaks, because I know what he meant by that. The reason he was so ready to go to school sick is because he's done it before. I've noticed. His father made him go to school whether he was healthy or not.
"Liam, I'm so sorry your parents didn't take proper care of you, but so many people love you. There's me, Louis and Shelby, Mallori and Niall, Perrie and Zayn, Madison and Harry, Sarah, there's so many of us that would give anything to help you stay happy and healthy."
He sighs, "I'm so grateful for all of you, but I just wish I could help my mum. She's so sweet and kind, but her spirit's being crushed by my dad's hatred. Everyday I saw her eyes get duller, because of him. It's an awful feeling to watch a person die, even though they're still living."
I frown, "I know what you mean, baby. I watched my parents do that too. My parents weren't always so strict and mean. But as I got older, something changed inside them and they started getting colder. It felt like they were getting father away and the fire inside them was dying," I explained. He nodded in agreeance.
"It's the same way with my mum. My dad's personally putting out her fire. Sometimes he even put mine out too. But you were like the gasoline that set me back afire. I even wrote a song about it a few weeks ago," he says, looking up at me with his milky brown eyes.
I love the way he depends on music. It's a beautiful sight to see him passionate about something.
"Oh Liam, I'd love to hear it!" I say, pecking his lips.
"Do you wanna hear it now?" He says in a small voice. I nod my head, indicating for him to go ahead and sing. He hesitates for a moment saying that it may not sound the best since he's sick, but when he sings, I'm still amazed.
His voice is raspier than usual, but it still rings strong as he sings, "Flame that came from me, fire meets gasoline, fire meets gasoline, I'm burning alive, I can barely breathe, when you're here loving me, fire meets gasoline, fire meets gasoline, I got on a knee, when you came back to me, fire meets gasoline, burn with me tonight."
He finishes strong and looks at me with those beautiful eyes. "Oh Liam," I place a hand on his cheek, "That was beautiful!"
"You're more beautiful," he says, leaning in and connecting our lips, "Thank you."
I pull back confused, "For what?"
"Being my gasoline."
