•Haz's Pov•
I decide to do what Hannah suggested, and talk to Tom. I want my little sister to have the perfect life, and I need to assure that he will give her that. I guess it's time to officially have the 'big brother' chat with him.
I never saw this coming. Tom was never the guy who was going to settle down with a girl he really likes, and have kids. He's the one we all assumed would get a good job in a big office and screw around with his interns. The shift in who he is as a person is almost unrecognizable. This is a completely different person than who I was best friends with ten months ago. As crazy to me as it is that they would want to have a baby together, I have to realize that they have a much deeper connection than most couples. They've known each other since we were little.
I knock on the door, and it opens. Tom looks less than pleased to see my face. I get it, I was an asshole.
"I came to talk." I say.
"Alright but you should probably be gone before Sav gets home, she's still really upset." He says, opening the door wider to let me in.
I walk inside, seeing the graduation decorations still up. I feel really shitty. Sav put so much work into that party for Tom and I, and I completely fucked it up.
"I want to have a completely honest conversation about this.. and I really don't want it to affect our friendship." I say to him as we sit down.
"Go ahead mate." He nods.
I go on to explain to him my worries of a baby entering this picture. How he will handle it, how he will feel if he gets bored, or regrets it. My fear of him leaving Sav. All of it. He listens intently, taking it all in which I really appreciate. He must really care for Savannah.. I know he does but, sometimes it's just hard to believe that they are together and in love.
"So I guess I just want you to understand that this can't just be something you do because you felt like it. I want to make sure that if my sister has your baby, that you will be there. Through all of it. No backing out." I end.
"Haz of course this isn't something we decided over night." He shakes his head. "When she thought she was pregnant, then found out she wasn't, she was crushed. Hell I was upset about it. I think that made it clear to us that this is something we really want."
"I didn't realize you guys cared that much.." I trail off.
"I don't think we realized it either." He says. "We're young, our schedules are going to be chaotic, it's going to be difficult, but we want this. We figured we had all the help we could possibly need."
"You don't plan on leaving her?.." I ask.
"Haz.. I've planned on marrying your sister for nine months now. Nothing could make me want to leave." He says truthfully.
The front door opens, and Sav walks in with a box in her hand, throwing down her bag.
"Got a surprise for you Tommy!" She says happily, but the smile on her face disappears when she sees me. I understand why. I practically told her she would be a bad mother and called her stupid. She doesn't deserve that.
"Hey savvy." I say.
"Hi." She says plainly.
I stand up, walking close to her. She looks anywhere but me. I hate when it's like this between us because normally we are each others best friend. We can trust each other with anything and everything, and last night I broke that trust.
"I want to apologize." I say. "I shouldn't have said what I said. It was wrong, and I fully support whatever decision you make."
"Even if it means I have a baby?" She asks.
"Well.. Rosie could use a niece or nephew." I shrug.
She grins, opening her arms to hug me. She squeezes me tightly, and I hug her back just as hard.
"Thank you, Haz." She says.
I let go of her, and she grasps my arm tightly, her feet stumbling a bit. She looks to me, her eyes clearly drooping a bit, and her expression blank, almost like she's not really there.
"Sav?" I say.
"Haz.." she mutters, her body collapsing forward into my arms.
"Savannah!" Tom exclaims, running over.
"Sav wake up, come on." I say, holding her body up.
My heart rate quickens, I have no clue what is going on or what to do. Tom grabs his keys, and I pick her up in my arms.
"We need to get her to the emergency room." He says.
____
We wait in the waiting room impatiently, waiting for something from the doctors. Tom paces the room, trying to come up with some reasonable, and non life threatening explanations for why this could have happened.
Except he sucks at being reasonable and is convinced she has a giant brain tumor.
"Tom she's going to be fine, she passed out. That happens to people." I say.
"Not her. She's healthy as a horse. There's no safe reasoning behind why she passed out." He says frantically.
"She probably forgot to eat this morning or something." I say.
"Well.. we were.. you know.." he says and I cringe. I really didn't need to know that.
"See, probably something as simple as that. Maybe an iron deficiency." I suggest.
"Okay.. you're right." He nods, taking a seat next to me. "I'm just not going to worry until there is something to worry about.
