Tobias sat beside Lydia at a table in the Hufflepuff Common Room, copying her Charms homework, an hour before it was due.

"What does that say?" The boy asked, pointing the feather part of his quill towards one of Lydia's messily scribbled words.

Lydia looked over at the word, pushing her glasses further up her nose, "Nonverbal spells."

"Thanks." Tobias said, quickly writing the word down.

Lydia smiled, going back to her book, "No problem."

"How's sitting next to Black?" The boy questioned.

"Fine," Lydia answered, "I've only sat next to him for one lesson, but he's not nearly as bad as Avery thinks he is."

"You could practically hear her yell 'Not Black, not Black' in her mind as we were being put in our seats." Tobias chuckled.

Lydia chuckled, "He could be much worse. He could be calling her his 'Averyflower'."

"Poor Lily." Tobias muttered.

"Poor Lily." The girl agreed.

Sirius grinned at Lydia, his chair scraping the floor as he excitedly sat down at it, turning to the girl, making her look at him wearily.

"Hi." The boy smiled.

Lydia stared at him, "Hello." She said, slowly.

"Are you single?" The Gryffindor blurted, making Lydia look at him as though he had three heads.

"Excuse me?"

"Oh, I'm not asking for me, I'm asking on behalf of a friend." Sirius told her.

Lydia still stared at him blankly, before turning to the front of the class as Professor Flitwick entered the classroom, making Sirius sigh, starting to come up with a new tactic in his head.

The next Charms Class, Sirius strode into the classroom with purpose, grinning widely at Lydia as he sat down beside her.
