"You like him, don't you?" A voice asked, making Lydia jump from where she was sat on her desk in her bedroom at her mother's house.
"Sorry?" The older girl asked as she was meticulously brushing her hair.
"This Remus boy," Emily clarified from where she was leant against her step-sister's doorframe, "You have a crush on him."
Lydia blushed, putting her hairbrush down on her desk and turning in her chair to face Emily, "Don't tell him when he gets here, okay."
"I won't." Emily shook her head.
Lydia raised an eyebrow at the look on Emily's face, "What?"
"It's just funny." The younger girl shrugged, stepping into the room.
"What's funny?" Lydia wondered.
"Seeing you get all worked up over a boy," The redhead chuckled, "I've never seen you get so flustered before."
Lydia hummed, crossing her arms and cocking her head to the side, asking, "And do you not get all flustered when someone so much as even mentions Oscar?"
Emily's hair started to match her face, "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Toby and I saw you both giggling and blushing all of Christmas." Lydia said with a teasing smile.
Emily stared at her stepsister for a few moments, her face flushing red as she tried to come up with a quip, "Oh, shut up." She settled on, before exiting the room in a hurry, leaving Lydia chuckling.

"How many pairs of glasses does one person need?" Remus chuckled as he looked at the array of them on top of Lydia's chest of drawers.
"Oh, shut up." Lydia blushed, sitting on her bed.
"And wow," Remus continued, holding a pair up to his face, "You really are blind."
"Oh really? I thought I just wore them as a fashion statement. You know, one for every occasion." Lydia smirked sarcastically.
Remus let out a small laugh, neatly placing the pair of glasses back where they belonged, before moving to sit next to the Hufflepuff on her bed, "You say that, but I don't think I've seen you wear them in about a month."
Lydia shrugged, playing with her fingers, "People say I look nice without them, so..." She trailed off, not knowing what to say.
"I know I've told you before, but I think you look pretty with or without them." Remus shyly told the girl.
Lydia blushed, "Thanks, Rem."
"Hey, Lyds, have you seen my-" Emily cut herself off as she was swinging off the doorframe, seeing the pair both sat, blushing on her bed, "Sorry. I forgot you had company."
"It's fine," Lydia shook her head with a small smile, standing up and walking over to her step-sister, "Uh, Remus, this is Emily. Emily, this is Remus."
A mischievous smile made its way onto the redhead's face, "Oh you're Remus?"
Remus let out an awkward chuckle as Lydia sent a burning glare into the side of Emily's head, "Yeah. And I'm guessing you're the Emily that Toby's brother keeps going on about."
Lydia snickered slightly as Emily flushed red and spluttered out, "I-I suppose."
"What was it you needed, Em?" Lydia kindly asked.
"If..." Emily trailed off, thinking, "If you'd seen my, um..." Her eyes landed on the Hufflepuff's desk, "My hairbrush."
"Yeah," Lydia nodded, "It's in your room. Where it always is."
"Right," Emily nodded, "I better go then."
"Mhm," Lydia nodded, starting to close the door on the younger girl, whisper-shouting, "Subtle snooping, by the way."
"You looooove him." Emily quietly taunted before sauntering back to her bedroom as Lydia closed the door behind her.
The Hufflepuff let out a breath, leaning against the now closed door, "Sorry about that."
"It's alright," Remus shook his head with a smile, "I've told you. I love your family."
Lydia looked down at her feet with a shy smile, before remembering, "Your Christmas gift!" She exclaimed, rushing over to her bed and reaching under it.
"You didn't have to, Lyds."
"You're saying that as though you didn't do the same thing." Lydia chuckled, gesturing over to the messily wrapped gift that the boy had put on her desk when her first came in the room.
"Fair point." Remus hummed, leaning over and grabbing his gift, the pair swapping.
"Well, it's nice to know that I' not the only one who's piss poor at wrapping." Lydia commented, the pair laughing when the bedroom door was suddenly reopened.
"Door open at all times." Mark Gables sang as he walked past, making the two teenagers blush furiously.

"I had a really nice time." Remus said as he and Lydia stood in the doorway of the open front door of the house.
"Me too." Lydia nodded with a smile, the pair staring at each other for a few moments, neither knowing what to do next.
"Mistletoe," A voice said, making the two of them turn their heads to see Emily poking her head out from the top of the stairs, pointing at the plant that had been hung from the top of the doorframe, "You're supposed to kiss. Just saying." She shrugged, before disappearing.
Lydia and Remus chuckled awkwardly as they turned back to each other, smiling nervously.
"Merry Christmas, Lydia." Remus muttered.
"Merry Christmas, Remus." Lydia whispered back, before quickly stepping forward on her tiptoes and placing a quick and nervous kiss on the boy's lips.
