The quidditch stands were packed. Cheering echoed around the pitch. It was Hufflepuff versus Gryffindor and everyone was excited.
Well, mostly everyone.
Addeline and Lydia stood in the Gryffindor stands, nervous.
They knew that Avery and Toby were both extremely competitive in their own way and the uncertainty of who would win was filling them with anxiety.
Being supportive of both of their friends, the pair had two stripes of face paint on both sides of their faces. Red and gold on the right, yellow and black on the left.
"What do you think is going to happen if Gryffindor win?" Addeline asked her friend.
"Then Avery is going to rub in Toby's face."
"And if Hufflepuff win?"
"Then Toby us going to rub it in Avery's face."
"So it's a lose-lose situation." The Slytherin stated.
"Yep." Lydia nodded with a sigh.
"You two look more nervous than the actual players." Remus chuckled, as he, Lily and Peter joined them in the stands.
"You would be too if you'd been in this situation before." Lydia told him, as Addeline started up a conversation with Lily and Peter.
"Ah, yes, Avery versus Peter." Remus nodded.
"Hide your children." Lydia joked, as a squabbling Oscar and Millie walked up to the pair.
"Lydia, you're unbiased in this situation," The boy started, "We need your help."
"Who do you think is going to win?" Millie asked her, "Gryffindor or Hufflepuff?"
"Well, I-"
"Obviously Hufflepuff will win," Oscar said, "My brother is the best Captain and Chaser ever!"
"Have you seen Avery's skills?!" Millie exclaimed, "They're unmatched!"
The pair turned expectantly to Lydia.
"Um." The girl muttered nervously.
"We think that both teams have an equal chance at winning." Remus spoke up, gesturing between him and Lydia.
The two fourth years stared at the boy blankly, before once again breaking out into an argument with each other, walking back to their friends, leaving the amused sixth years behind.
"Thanks." Lydia told him, as the pair turned back to look at the pitch.
"No problem," Remus smiled, "I could tell it was making you feel a bit overwhelmed."
"I don't like having to pick between my friends." The girl said, making Remus' smile widen slightly.
"That's good, you know."
Lydia smiled slightly, looking down at her fingers, remembering that she had something to confess to the boy, "I have to tell you," She said, "I claim defeat."
Remus grew confused, "What?"
In response, Lydia held her hands out in front of her, revealing picked at and bitten nails and fingers.
"But you were doing so well!" Remus exclaimed.
"I know," Lydia sighed, "But the stress of the game got to me. Still, a month without doing it is very good for me. My fingers are very thankful."
"Yeah, I get that." Remus nodded, studying his own fingers.
"Well, it looks like I'll be buying everyone a butterbeer in Hogsmeade." Lydia sighed.
"You know, you don't have to." Remus rushed to tell her.
"Nu-uh," Lydia quickly shook her head, "A bet, Mr Lupin, is a bet. And I lost, so I will be buying everyone a butterbeer in Hogsmeade. End of story. A bet is a bet and you don't get upset."
Remus chuckled, holding his hands up in defence, "Okay, okay. I shall accept your butterbeer of defeat.
"Good." Lydia nodded, the pair chuckling.
"Free butterbeer with everyone. Peter will be happy." Remus said.
"Avery won't." Lydia laughed, the boy joining in.
"Yeah, but when is she ever happy when Sirius is involved?"
"Right?" The Hufflepuff giggled.
The crowd around them erupted in cheers, as the Hufflepuff and Gryffindor team flew onto the pitch.
"This is going to be a bloodbath." Lydia mumbled, loud enough for Remus to hear, as she grabbed his arm in worry.
"Just makes it more entertaining." Remus shrugged, earning a laugh from the girl standing next to him.
