As they didn't have a car anymore, Joyce lent them hers. Axel was driving, Constance on his right and Jane behind. The two teens were looking outside with the same bitter taste in their mouths, disgusted by the whole situation. Jane hid Mr. Bear in her bag, too scared that her father would sell him again. The brunette's mood was beginning to be more and more frustrated by just looking at all the ugly buildings around her. She hated Corson's avenue, Lucas was always victim of racism here, by everyone.

The car stopped in front of a small and thin building right next to an outside basketball field. They weren't living far from Lucas; she could see his house from here.

As Axel couldn't park, he dropped his daughters who took as many bags as possible, gave them the keys, and drove away to find somewhere to park. The two girls stopped in front of the old building with desperation. There were only three floors. They opened the wooden door and went upstairs. Two doors were facing each other; theirs was on the left. Constance put the bags on the floor and began to search for the key while Jane was standing behind. They heard noises coming from upstairs and saw a young Arabic boy, an oval face, his black hair short except on the top of his head, a messy small beard. The boy stopped and smiled to them.

- "You're certainly our new neighbors. I'm Mehdi. You are?"

- "Poor," Jane answered.

Mehdi had an amused sigh with his nose.

- "It's Jane, and I'm Constance," the blonde teen answered.

- "Nice to meet you. I live just above you with my mom, if you need anything, or if we make too much noise, don't hesitate to come, okay?"

- "Sure. Thanks."

The boy nodded before continuing his way in the stairs. Constance finally found the key and opened the door. The living-room was cold and small. There was a couch against the wall in front of the door with a coffee table and a piece of furniture with a small TV on it. There was one window on the right wall, a door on the left wall, next to the couch, and a door on the right of the couch, on the same wall.

- "Marvelous," Jane said with no enthusiasm.

- "I guess it's better than sleeping outside," Constance added.

- "I'm not that sure."

The two girls entered. Constance opened the door on the left but was disappointed to see it was just a broom closet. They opened the other door and discovered the small kitchen. There was a small window on the right, and the furniture were making a U with a table and two chairs in the middle of the room.

- "Someone will eat on foot," Jane stated.

- "I'm sure dad sold all the chairs too."

Jane had an amused but bitter sigh. They took the door on the left to go in a very small corridor. The door on the right was the bathroom. They opened the door in front of them and found their bedroom. It was very small. There was a window on the right, a small desk with a chair on the top right angle, and bunk beds on the top left angle, almost touching the desk. Jane threw her bags on the bed on the top before climbing it and laying down.

- "I managed to save some things by the way."

Constance opened her bag and held out something to Jane. Jane wide opened her eyes and became red of embarrassment when she recognized her porn magazine.

- "I...It's not mine," she lied.

- "Of course, it is, it was under your pillow. Look, I don't care, you have your secret life, it's fine."

Jane took it and avoided eye's contacts with her sister. It was so embarrassing, now Constance would think she was a pervert, and now she knew she was more interested by girls than boys. Well, she didn't seem to care, or even to be surprised. The two girls were joined by their father opening the door with a smile.
