When Jane opened her eyes, Max wasn't in the bed. She looked at her phone and saw that her alarm clock was supposed to ring in five minutes. She collapsed on her pillow and sighed loudly with her mouth before finding some strength to get out of her bed. She opened her door, made a few steps in the corridor, and opened the kitchen door. Max was cooking. The redhead widely smiled when she saw her sleepy girlfriend.
- "You never stop cooking," Jane mumbled.
- "I wanna be sure you'll eat before your first day in school."
- "Thank you, mom."
Max gently pushed her girlfriend's head which made her laugh. While Max was cooking, Jane decided to go take a shower and to get ready. Once done, she sat at her kitchen table with Max, with a bowl of cereals and a plate with pancakes and a chocolate sauce on them. While Jane was eating her cereals, Max was stupidly smiling in her direction. The brunette brushed her hair back, and Max loved seeing it like that, especially with her leather jacket. She was looking badass like that. When Jane finished her cereals, she took the plate of pancakes and tasted them. Max began to worry when Jane frowned.
- "You don't like them?" Max shyly asked.
- "What? No, I do! I do like them! But I've never tasted that chocolate sauce before! I think I'm in love with it!"
- "Really? I'm happy to hear that, it's my creation," the redhead answered with a humble tone and a small blush on her cheeks.
- "Wow, you really are a genius. And I'm glad I can enjoy it."
- "I'm glad too."
The two girls smiled to each other before continuing their breakfasts. But after a few minutes, they realized that they had to go. They quickly cleaned the table, took their bags, and ran to the bus station. They arrived at the same moment of the vehicle and jumped in it. When they sat, they chuckled. At the next bus stop, they saw their friend, Lucas, coming to them. When he noticed them, he widely smiled and saluted them before sitting in front of them and turning to talk to them:
- "So, Jane, you're not too stressed to go back to school?"
- "Kinda, especially because I've lots of things to catch up."
- "Don't worry, we'll help you."
- "Yeah, I know, Max showed me the program."
- "Scary, right?"
- "More than scary!"
- "Stop that!" Max said with a light tone, gently punching her arm. "It's scary only because we failed yesterday."
- "Oh, chemistry?" Lucas told.
- "Yeah, a bad idea."
- "Why don't you let Dustin taking care of chemistry?"
- "Because I wanna be part of the help, and chemistry is the only subject where I can help her without making things worse."
- "I'm pretty sure you have other things to catch up with her than chemistry."
- "What?" she frowned.
- "Like, spending some time with her! I mean, she is your girlfriend, you probably have lots of things you wanna do with her instead of arguing because of chemistry!"
- "But it wouldn't be fair, just because she is not your girlfriend doesn't mean you don't want to spend some time with her without talking about homework!"
Lucas made a movement with his head to tell he was kind of agreeing.
- "Don't fight for me, I don't wanna be a burden!" Jane intervened.
