WILLS P.O.V

On the boat we all sat, led by Charon to the entrance to hell... Or would it so much be hell if we had Shane, their apparent 'master' I turned over again, seeing him still shaking violently, his head in his hands, emitting silent sobs. Nico just petted his head repetitively, not even saying a word, just staring straight ahead, obviously lost in thought. Delilah was rubbing his shoulder, whispering loudly to him a story of blood and ghosts and trips to hell and... The poor boy.
It didn't seem like they blamed him, well, perhaps Nico did, but, I couldn't go over there. Was he the master we were looking for, the evil we were in search of. Did he remember who he was? Was he even himself anymore? He'd been someone different since we met him, silent, unknowing, but different. Could I blame him for something he didn't even remember? We didn't even fully know it was him, but it was, wasn't it?

I moved over finally, ushering Nico and Delilah aside, they sucked at this. I placed my hand on the flat of his back and rubbed it softly.

"Last Summer, as you would probably know, we had one of the greatest wars, the war with Gaia. It was so worrying, that Hera, sent an ambassador from both camps, the roman and the Greek, with their memories wiped, to the alternate camps. The Greeks and Romans were enemies then, and yet, we didn't know of each others existence. With their memories wiped, each camp harboured the others camper. Now us Greeks when we learnt of Jason's real identity we sought out this roman camp to build up an alliance, but as we got there, we were shunned, hated, because they learnt we were Greeks. But they trusted percy though, our ambassador, because they had built up a trust in him whilst his memory had been wiped. So percy, who is one of the greatest heroes now of all time, he made it be so that the Romans trusted this Greek warship, but when they did, the Greek warship, being possessed, destroyed part of the city. So the Romans hated us, wanted us dead, and as we fled, they sought to destroy us. In the end though they worked together to defeat the evil, and change each others home grounds, and became friends, because they decided, that they liked each other, and couldn't blame them for the wrongdoings of the past." Shane had stopped crying now, and was sitting up, leaning his head on my shoulder, it wasn't Nico, but if it was helping keep his head straight, it was okay, Nico was sending him wary glances though.
"Is any of this sounding familiar." I asked Shane, my voice careful and well thought out.
Shane nodded, "it's just like my problem." He said, his voice chocked. "So you guys, don't blame me? I promise I don't remember any of it, I'm so confused."
"Of course we don't." Nico and I said at the same time.
"Well..." Delilah began, but Nico kicked her hard in the leg, "how could we." She breathed whilst grimacing in pain.
"You really promise?"
"Shane, we are going to go down their now, and just like Percy, your going to build up their trust. Then, just like the Greeks did, we need you to apologise for what you did in the past, and hand the reins back over to hades. Everything will be okay."
"Thank you." Shane said. "Your really good friends." He wiped his tear stained cheeks.
"So I can be a hero just like Percy?"
"Just like Percy." I finished.
