Athena looked at Finnick with discontent, whilst he exchanged the gesture with one of his classic smirks. The woman couldn't believe how any Capitol freak could swoon over him: he was a self-absorbed scoundrel in her eyes.

Next to him, a petite woman sauntered out, clipboard in hand. "Finnick, we are really behind schedule here, please hurry up! The tour guide will be expecting you soon." She explained in her pitchy Capitol accent.

Tour guide? Schedule? Did President Snow send Finnick here?

Many thoughts rushed through Athena's head as she watched the woman check through her papers, and the next words she said made Athena extremely irritated: "Ah yes! Athena Winter has been selected to be your guide, oh how exciting! It looks as if she's over there, so go up to her, and I'll be back on the train to the Capitol, sorting out return dates."

Finnick just looked down at his escort, and then went back to looking at Athena with determination, something she felt very uncomfortable about.

Breaking the tension, District 8's head peacekeeper, Augustus, comes storming through the station door with authority, barking orders at his two assistants.

"Athena, I will remove these handcuffs so you can tour Finnick Odair, kindly commissioned here by the President. Any nonsense, and you'll be put into solitary confinement, got it?" Augustus demanded.

The victor turned around so he could remove the metal restraints, and asked: "Why don't you just kill me now? Your 'colleagues' or whatever you call them clearly caught me assisting a riot."

"Snow's orders darling. Now go tour Finnick, which will do you some good if you're caught doing so, seeing as you are hated by most people right now." The peacekeeper answered, pushing her towards Finnick, who was stood with cockiness, clearly bored.

Augustus and his team left as hastily as they arrived, leaving Athena and Finnick alone. "Well, since I'm left with no say in this, should we start whatever the hell this tour is?" Athena asked dispassionately.

"Sure, I'm right behind you honey." Finnick replied with a tone the girl despised.

The tour was the most momentous event Athena had experienced in a long time, because she had spoken to the bare minimum of people since her victory tour.

When they left the station, the first thing the victors saw was the devastated town square: bodies lying everywhere, singed fabrics, ruined buildings. Athena had never seen her District like this, even after the factory explosion that killed her parents whilst she was in her games.

It wasn't an accident.

The President had murdered her family and many others in cold blood.
