"Finnick, there you are!" Johanna called out to the man who was gravely ambling towards the group, who were discussing new plans together. He clutched onto Athena's body like it was the only thing he had left. But in a way, it was.
Finnick wasn't sure if the woman in his hold was alive or dead, but her cannon hadn't sounded, so he assumed she was somewhere in between. What he thought were her last moments had been torture for the man, as she didn't acknowledge his presence; the only thing the woman could focus on were the memories playing around in her mind. It came across to Finnick that after throwing two knives to save her allies in an act of protection and loyalty, Athena had decided to finally let go of her hold on life, and let death take its place: she was just too exhausted.
"What happened to Athena? I mean I saw what Cashmere did to her but she can't be-" Johanna spoke with genuine concern for her ally.
"Just- let's not speak of it. All I know is that she is fighting for her life right now. That's all I'm going to say." Finnick interjected, his tears threatening to make an entrance again. Caspian looked at Johanna in sadness, who then just nodded in sympathy at the both of them and awkwardly changed the subject.
"So what should we do next? Seeing as Brutus and Enobaria are probably hunting us down as we speak." The only people that paid attention to the woman were Beetee and Peeta, Katniss was too engrossed in Finnick's actions as he laid his love to rest on the sand with that same, solemn face.
"I'm going to try to tap a tree, I think water is the one thing we are all in need of right now." Peeta told the others, who simultaneously nodded at the boy.
"No, it's my turn." Finnick snapped out of his depressive trance to challenge Peeta.
"I'll at least watch your back." Peeta said back, still having worry for the other man.
"Katniss can do that," Johanna interrupted the two males' argument, turning towards Katniss, who had a taken-aback look, "We need you to make another map. The other one was probably rubbed away by one of those careers' feet."
The woman then yanked a large leaf off from the nearest tree and shoved it into Peeta's hands forcefully, who then gave in and reluctantly drew the main circle. Katniss then followed Johanna's orders for her and wandered over, holding her bow, to Finnick, who was hesitantly stabbing a tree with a knife - Athena's knife.
"Katniss, got that spile?" Finnick turned around to ask with an empty look in his sea-green eyes, holding his hand out to her. When he acquired it from the girl, he proceeded to jab it into the same tree. But that's when he heard screams of need and agony from an unknown little girl's voice. That exact voice meant nothing to the man, but it obviously did to Katniss.
"PRIM! PRIM!" She screamed, turning straight to the run into the dangers of the jungle, swatting away any vines that blocked her path. Finnick knew immediately that these pained noises, coming from an nameless source, were not from someone originally in the arena, so he thought it was bestowed upon him that he abandon the spile to help the harrowed girl.
