"I can't believe we actually got onto this plane without getting caught!" Athena laughed as she clambered out of the crate she was sat in, with the help of Finnick.
"Yeah, and we arrived just in time for Paylor's speech as well." The man smirked at his wife, knowing that her seeing Paylor would give out lots of confidence.
"Wait, is she telling the rebels about the plan for our attack in the Capitol?" She asked as they hid behind a building, making sure no one saw them.
"I'm guessing so."
"Okay, there's the group." Athena mentioned, pointing to a massive collection of rebels, standing confidently and ready for Commander's talk.
"If we just stand here, we hopefully won't be seen, and can still hear what she'll be saying."
"Sounds good to me."
Peering their heads around the corner, the couple could tell that the woman had just entered the platform, and had presented a holographic map of the Capitol, on a banner behind her. A smattering of applause encircled the clearing, even by the ones who weren't taking down the city directly. A warm feeling spread across Athena's chest at seeing this, the rebellion had hit all the right targets, and the final one would explode when Snow's chest was embedded with Katniss' last arrow. She knew her great-grandmother Violet would be so proud, and if she did die, the older woman would be waiting in the afterlife with an accomplished smile on her face, even if her own revolt had been over seventy years ago.
Athena Odair had been born into a family of fighters, most of them being killed by Snow, but this time, she would be the one to end him. She may not bear the Winter surname any longer, but she was going to do the Winter bloodline justice by dying naturally, and taking down the currently corrupt Panem.
"I'm Commander Paylor, District 8," She began, "I'm a soldier like all of you so, here's what I know...
"For the first time in our lifetimes, we're standing together with thirteen districts. From what I see here, we've already made history. But history doesn't stop to celebrate, and we're facing an enemy that will not change, and will never surrender. President Snow has pulled back peacekeepers to fortify the centre of the city, he's evacuating residents from the outer blocks. These civilians will be confused and desperate, you are under orders not to target them.
"We're deploying medical brigades to help anyone in need, and we'll show the Capitol people who we are. To slow our advance, President Snow has built a minefield of traps and lethal devices called 'Pods', the sadistic inventions of Gamemakers meant to make sport of our deaths. If our armies make it past peacekeepers and other defences, we'll converge in the centre of the city at Snow's mansion, where we won't just unlock his gates, but unshackle all of Panem.
"If we die, let it be for cause and not a spectacle. If we succeed, let it be for all of Panem, and let it be forever. Yes, you've already made history, but the future, our future, starts tomorrow at dawn, when we march together into the Capitol." She finished, earning yet another ovation from her army.
