A few moments later, the anthem played, only to present the Capitol symbol: with no faces to show. Athena just assumed that the Gamemakers were invested in Beetee's promising plan, and had chosen not to thrust any new threats on the tributes. The light blue glow of the hologram adorning the night sky lit up Finnick's fearful expression towards Athena; if this plan worked and they hadn't been lifted out of the arena by District 13, what would they do?

"I say we head over to the tree now to carry out our plan." Beetee called out to his allies, breaking the anxious tension between the two lovers, sat secluded away from the others across the beach.

Johanna nodded in agreement and jumped up, grip tightening around her axe whilst she helped Caspian up with her other hand, Katniss and Peeta embracing behind them to prepare for the upcoming event.

The tree had stayed the same since the group last saw it, even after another strike hitting it. Beetee got to work by wrapping the golden wire around the thick trunk hundreds of times to secure it, with everyone standing guard over the vulnerable man.

"Typically, a lightning strike contains five billion joules of energy, we don't want to be anywhere in the vicinity when this hits." The man mumbled almost incoherently to the others, finishing up his last wrap.

"You three girls, go together now, take this." He continues, gesturing towards Athena, Johanna and Katniss, whilst shoving the wire into the woman from 7's hands. "Unspool it carefully, make sure the entire coil is in the water, you understand? Then get to the tree in the two o'clock sector, we'll meet you there."

Katniss glanced at Peeta after listening to this, who also looked very discontent with the directions given. Athena just mentally laughed at how naive they were, and how Beetee's organisation of the group would fare well for the escape plan.

"I'm gonna go with them as a guard." Peeta went on to protest.

"No, no no, you're staying here to protect me, and the tree." Beetee shut him off.

"No, I need to go with her." He pushed, glancing at Katniss worryingly.

"There are two careers out there, I need at least two guards."

"Finnick and Caspian can protect you just fine on their own."

"Yeah, why can't Finnick, Johanna, and Caspian stay with you? Athena, Peeta and I will take the coil." Katniss added, annoying the victors who knew the bigger plan even more. Athena decided to take action at this.

"Do you think I want to leave Finnick or Caspian? No, of course I don't, but I'm dealing with what Beetee said, and getting on with my life. Why can't you just do the same?" Athena accused the girl, giving the two men a weary smile in the process.

"It's his plan, we all agreed to it." Johanna walked up to Athena and spoke, emphasising her point.

"Is there a problem here?" Finnick asked sarcastically.
