"Let the 75th annual Hunger Games begin." Athena heard Claudius Templesmith's voice ring out across the arena. There were ten seconds left until the District 8 woman's life would be constantly threatened, even by her future allies.
10,

8,
She had to take those knives as her own.
7,
6,
5,
She had to find the others.

2,
She wasn't making it out alive.
1,
She was going to make her last moments count.
The loud boom of a cannon echoed around the arena, signifying another meaningless games to begin. Except these games were different. There could finally be hope for Panem if Haymitch plays his cards right.
Victors all around Athena dived off their pedestals, which snapped the woman out of her trance, and caused her to do the same. The salty water wasn't as cool as she thought it was going to be, it turned out to measure as an almost humid feel.
Athena's eyes stung horribly as the salt started to edge its way into them, causing a few tears to form. Cashmere struggled her way across the current to grab her ally and pull her over to the slippery rock barrier.
"Grab some weapons for us and meet me back here. Also, make sure Gloss and the others know we'll be waiting for them." The District 1 woman demanded. Athena breathlessly nodded in response and staggered over to the cornucopia, which already had Finnick & Katniss on it: the woman from 12 hesitantly raising her bow in attack.
Gloss was lurking against the side of the silver horn, assessing the same pair that Athena was. They made eye contact, causing the woman to run over to Gloss.
"Have you seen Cashmere?" He asked with slight worry, still concentrated on planning when to retrieve his weaponry.
"She is just on the edge of the beach from where I came from, and she wants us to meet her back there. I'll grab some weapons and you cover me okay?" Athena whispered as who she recognized as the District 5 male ran too confidently over to Katniss, sword in hand. He proceeded to aim for attack, only to be impaled by Finnick's trident, signifying to Katniss his allegiance. He hadn't noticed Athena yet, which was useful as she was able to make an advance on the weapons the cornucopia beared.
Gloss ran behind Athena when she entered the horn, grabbing whatever she could find: spears, swords, and most importantly, her knives. Finnick had taken Katniss off to the beach at this point, Peeta tiredly ambling over to them with Mags in tow.
