James stared out of the car window. The car was hardly moving because of all the traffic. The view from the window was nothing more than other highways with more traffic.
'Are we almost there?' Luke complained.
'Be patient, Luke. Asking it every five seconds won't get us there faster.' Their dad replied.
'You're the older brother, you should be an example for your sisters and James.' Their mom said.
'James is only silent because he's sad. You know tomorrow's the anniversary of what happened to Faith.' Luke replied.
'Don't talk about that, he's already down enough without the reminders.' Arianna hissed. James turned to look at his little sister.
'Arianna, don't do that. I'm sorry for acting like this. It's a hard time for you guys as well.' The blonde boy said.
'Yeah, but you were the one that was closest to Faith out of all of us.' Luke replied.
'Maybe that's a twin thing or something.' James's older sister added. James turned to look back out of the window.
'Can we talk about something else, please?' He asked. The car went silent. Nobody knew how to change the subject. James's mind wandered back to his lost twin sister. He felt guilty. He knew it wasn't his fault, but if he had been faster, he might have been able to do something. He missed her. His family was right when they said that the two had been really close. A single tear rolled over the blonde's cheek. Suddenly the horn of a truck blasted outside making the blonde jump and look up just in time to see the front of a giant truck coming at him with full speed. James didn't even have the time to scream before everything went black.

James screamed and fell out of his bed. He was panting as he tried to figure out what happened.
'It was just a dream. Just a nightmare.' The blonde said to himself. 'Just a horrible memory.' He got up from the floor and realized he was shaking. As he sat down on the edge of his bed he noticed his blankets were damp from the cold sweat. James listened into the silence. Apparently he hadn't woken up Sarah or Dexter with his scream. Tears started rolling down the blonde's cheeks as he fell back onto the bed. He grabbed his pillow and hugged it tightly as he sobbed, the memories of the last conversation with his family replaying in his head.

At school
'You look like you didn't sleep much last night.' Jaiden said as James sat down with his new friends.
'Nightmares! Why do they exist?' The blonde muttered.
'They're a part of life, but you can learn a lot about yourself from your nightmares.' Maaz replied.
'I don't think I'm learning anything from mine.' James said with a sigh.
'Maybe you need help interpreting them. What was your nightmare about?' Rebecca asked.
'I don't want to talk about it.' James said as he heard the school bell. 'Oh, and is it okay if I don't sit with you guys during lunch. Nothing personal or something, but I convinced Adam to let me sit with him for once.'
'Ofcourse that's okay. I hope you can befriend him.' Jaiden said.
'Yeah, I'd be happy to see him make some friends.' Maaz added.
'Don't get your hopes up. I kind of annoyed him into agreeing. I'm gonna try my best but I'm not sure if I'll be able to get him to open up.' The blonde warned.

At lunch
James looked around the cafeteria. He saw Adam sitting on the same spot as the day before.
'Good luck with him, James.' Rebecca said before following Jaiden and Maaz to their usual table. James walked over to Adam and went to sit in front of the dark haired boy.
'Hey, Adam. How are you?' James asked.
'I was kinda hoping you forgot.' Adam replied a little annoyed.
'Come on, it can't harm to socialize sometimes.' The blonde said. Adam sighed.
'You said you wanted to talk? Just say what you have to say and then you can go.'
'I wanted to get to know you a little better. Maybe we can be friends.' Adam laughed, but it sounded humorless and cold.
'I don't do friendship! You're wasting your time.' He said.
'But why? Friendship is beautiful. Why do you hate it so much?' The blonde asked.
'I don't hate friendship. I think it's something really important. I just don't want to participate in it.'
'Why not?'
'That's my business. Just go back to your friends. They're really nice people. You better hold on to good friends like that.'
'No! I was gonna get to know you during lunch, so I'm gonna get to know you!' James said determined.
'Fine! What do you wanna know?' Adam asked annoyed.
'What do you like to do for fun?' Adam thought about it for a moment.
'I don't really know. When I'm not working for school or taking care of my dad I usually just sit and either listen to music or just think about a crapload of random stuff.'
'What do you mean by "taking care of your dad"?' The blonde asked curiously. Adam shrugged before answering.
'It's just my dad and me. By the time he comes home, I already made food and worked around the house to make sure he doesn't have to do it. Fixing stuff we broke or cleaning or taking out the trash.'
'So it's just you and your dad? No siblings to help out? No mother? No aunts or uncles that can help from time to time?'
'Well I have a brother, but he doesn't live with us. And that's it. Me, my brother and my dad.'
'Why doesn't your brother live with you?'
'WHAT IS THIS, AN INTERROGATION?' Adam said angrily as he slammed his fists on the table.
'WHY DO YOU ASK ME ALL THESE QUESTIONS? WHAT IS IT YOU DO FOR FUN? WHAT CONDITIONS DO YOU LIVE IN? WHAT ABOUT YOUR SIBLINGS AND YOUR OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS?'
'My entire family is dead.' James said quietly.
'Oh... I-I'm sorry. I didn't know that.' Adam muttered. The tone of his voice was no longer cold and distant, but warm and emphatic. He immediately regretted his outburst and felt a little guilty.  'I shouldn't have yelled like that.'
'It's okay, there was no way you could have known.' James replied, his voice still quiet. The two sat in silence, neither of them knowing what to say.
'I gotta go.' Adam said eventually before getting up and walking away. Leaving the blonde alone.

'And how did it go?' Jaiden asked as they walked into the classroom.
'I don't know. It didn't really go well, but it could've gone a lot worse.' James replied.
'I saw him getting angry at one point, but I couldn't hear what he was saying.' Rebecca said.
'But later he calmed down, right?' Maaz asked.
'Yeah, he didn't like me asking questions, but than the topic of family came up and he felt guilty when I told him I was an orphan.' James explained. His friends looked at him in shock.
'What?' He asked confused.
'We didn't know that. You didn't tell us.' Rebecca whispered.
'I didn't? Oh, well. Now you know.' James said awkwardly.
'Then where do you live?' Maaz asked.
'A nice couple adopted me recently. They're called Sarah and Dexter. It's why I'm new in the middle of the school year. I moved here last Friday from the orphanage.' James explained.
'Okay, sit down everybody. I have an important announcement.' The teacher said. The class grew silent and the teacher continued. 'They're will be no classes on Monday. You're all going on a field trip.' Immediately the class started to whisper excitedly. 'Silence!' The teacher called before continuing. 'We will gather at the parking before the school building when the first bell rings. The bus will take us to the hospital where a couple of nice doctors will give us a tour and answer your questions. We see that less and less kids are motivated to become doctors later. We hope to get at least some of you to consider it for a future job.'
'I don't think being a doctor is my call.' Rebecca whispered to her friends as she leaned back in her chair.
'Same, I'd rather become a cartoonist or a math teacher.' James said.
'I don't know. Becoming a doctor sounds really cool. I think I'm actually considering it. I can't wait for the field trip. It's gonna be super interesting.' Maaz said excitedly.
'I believe it will be interesting too, but I don't think it's going to convince me to be a doctor one day. I think I'll leave that to you, Maaz.' Jaiden added.
