Can love overcome past?

Adam yawned as he tried to stretch his legs within the little bit of space he had in the truck.
'How much longer until we're there?' He asked.
'About two hours. If there's not to much traffic.' His dad answered.
'Another two hours?' Caleb complained.
'Don't be so impatient, bro. We're doing it for mom.' Adam said as he looked at his brother.
'I know. I kinda miss her.' Caleb replied.
'Well, after we drop of this order, we can drive back home and go visit your mother in the hospital before we have to go do the next delivery.' Their dad said.
Caleb sighed and stared out of the window. Their truck was driving on a busy highway. After a couple minutes, Adam decided he wanted to break the silence and he took out his guitar. He checked if it was still tuned before starting to play and sing:

'When the days are cold and the cards all fold
And the saints we see are all made of gold
When your dreams all fail and the ones we hail
Are the worst of all and the blood's run stale'

As soon as he recognized the song, Caleb started to sing along. He loved singing with his brother.

'I want to hide the truth, I want to shelter you
But with the beast inside, there's nowhere we can hide
No matter what we breed, we still are made of greed
This is my kingdom come, this is my kingdom come

When you feel my heat, look into my eyes
It's where my demons hide, it's where my demons hide
Don't get too close, it's dark inside
It's where my demons hide, it's where my demons hide

At the curtain's call is the last of all
When the lights fade out, all the sinners crawl
So they dug your grave and the masquerade
Will come calling out at the mess you've made

Don't want to let you down, but I am hell bound
Though this is all for you, don't want to hide the truth
No matter what we breed, we still are made of greed
This is my kingdom come, this is my kingdom come

When you feel my heat, look into my eyes
It's where my demons hide, it's where my demons hide
Don't get too close, it's dark inside
It's where my demons hide, it's where my demons hide

They say it's what you make, I say it's up to fate
It's woven in my soul, I need to let you go
Your eyes, they shine so bright, I want to save that light
I can't escape this now, unless you show me how

When you feel my heat, look into my eyes
It's where my demons hide, it's where my demons hide
Don't get too close, it's dark inside
It's where my demons hide, it's where my demons hide'

Their dad sighed.
'Do you have to sing a song about demons?' He asked.
'Come on, dad. I know you're all religious and stuff, but it's just a song.' Caleb replied. Adam grinned. He wasn't really a rebel or anything, but because his parents were religious, he'd sing songs like this. The biggest "rebel" act he did was the cartoon he always doodled during class. Always a little demon that was wearing his own red common sense hoodie.

'I'm glad we're not down there.' Caleb said as he pointed at something through the window. Adam looked outside and saw there was a lot of traffic at the highway that was down below them. The cars weren't even moving over there. They were about to drive up a bridge that went over the highway with the traffic when suddenly the doors from cargo area of the truck in front of them opened. They must not have been locked properly. The truck in front of them stopped immediately and their dad stept on the breaks as soon as possible, but they didn't have the time, nor the distance to avoid a crash. Out of reflexes, their dad yanked at the steering wheel and the truck turned to try and avoid the other vehicle. Adam and Caleb screamed as their truck left the road and started speeding towards the cars that were stuck in the traffic on the highway below.
'WATCH OUT!' Adam heard his brother yell.
Their dad tried to avoid the cars, but it was to late. When Adam saw the cars coming closer, he closed his eyes in fear.
