Numb

I lie awake,

In pure darkness,

Not a sound to be heard,

Or a beat to be felt,

I am all alone,

In my own world,

Floating in my thoughts,

Some creep,

Some crawl,

Some are big,

Some are small,

Some make me want to hide,

Some make me want to die,

Some make me want to laugh,

Some make me want to cry,

Instead though,

Despite all the feelings,

I am numb,

Numb to the beat of my heart,

Numb to the pitter patter of the rain outside,

Numb to the ringing in my ears,

I lie there,

My eyes closed,

My mind open,

I am not alseep,

Nor am I awake,

Some say I'm a freak,

Some say I'm a blessing,

Can anyone just think,

Let me drift,

Its always more peaceful,

To think alone,

Than pretend together.
