Lunox's Point of View
"I'm still confused. How can you be Tophet Chevalier? I thought you're on a special mission! A top-secret mission yet you're here," I said. He smirked at me.
"You just transferred into this school, your IQ decreased," he said.
"This is the mission. I've been on this mission for almost five years. Staying in this this school, I have planned out everything and this is the right time to execute the plan. However, there's a little casualty and it's your beloved Gus. You have the same trait, stubbornness," he added.
"Once you're near to your goal, you can't be stopped," he said. He stands. "Let's stop talking about him and start the meeting on why I gathered you all here today. You are the people whom I can trust because I know you won't betray me," he said and looked at me. I raised an eyebrow.
"What's with the look?" I asked.
"Always remember that you are mine so don't mess things up," he said while looking at me. He didn't answer my question and keep on talking! What's with him? Then, he looked away and continued to talk. "Also, don't ever betray me because hell awaits you if you try," he added.
"You're a great leader, Leo. No one will even dare to betray you," said Odette and laughed. "I doubt that," and glanced at me. I slammed the table. "Why do you keep on staring at me?!" I said in annoyance. He just smirked and leaned on the chair.
"Did I?" He asked.
"Don't give me that innocent face!" I exclaimed. This is truly unbelievable. The great assassin, Tophet Chevalier, is such a jerk. He's obviously making fun of me.
"If I did, there's nothing wrong," he said. I clenched my fist. Chill down, Lunox. Don't get irritated. He'll teased you more if you complain and react. I glanced at him. I saw his teasing smile. Okay, that's it. I don't like when people make me a fool.
"You two, stop," said Odette. She turned to Leomord. "Take this seriously, Leo!" She said.
"Alright, alright. I just love to see her annoying reaction. It's amusing to see the calm and composed, Lunox, explode," he said. "Also, to see in my two eyes her devastating state a while ago. I should have filmed it and have uncle John watched it," he said. "I can't take this anymore," I whispered to myself. I stood up and rushed towards him. "You're wasting my patience!" I exclaimed.
I went in front of him and punched him but he grabbed my arms. He pinned me on the table. He held both of my wrist. "Get off me!" I hissed. "You're like an untamed animal," he said. "How should I teach you a lesson, cat?" he asked.
"First of all, I'm not an animal. Second, don't compare me to a cat because I'm a tigress, got that?" I said. I kicked his crotch because I was below him but I didn't think that he calculated my action. He stuck his leg on my leg. I can't move! He came closer and whispered, "Not there, tigress. How can I have passed down my genes if you happen to injure it?" My eyes widen. I felt that my face turned red. "P-Pervert!" I exclaimed. He let me go and distanced himself. He let out a laugh. "What's funny?!" I asked him. I'm still annoyed.
"You're an interesting character as they all said. Don't change yourself for someone. Stay true. I like the way you are. I like the real you," he said and patted my hair. Then, he went back to his seat.
"Let's get serious. Playtime's over," he suddenly switched his mood. He became serious. On the other hand, his words left me hanging. I touched my head. Did he just comfort me? I hid my smile. He cares for me. He does all that so that I'll be back to my true self, the Lunox they all knew. I hate to say this but thank you. I looked at him and he caught me staring. He looked at me back and winked.
"I have made a conclusion. Leo is certified playboy! That explains his actions," I mumbled.
I focused my attention on the meeting. Leomord's way of thinking is incredible. He's extraordinary. No wonder he's at the top of the ranking. With this plan, it will work. I smiled. We can take down Mask Man or rather, Sir Franco.
"That's our plan. You all have your own role. I'm counting on all of you," he said. "Dismissed," he ended. After he said that, I sat on the chair. "All I have to do is stick with Leo's side, that's all," I mumbled. Isn't it too easy? I mean I'm more experienced and suitable for Odette and Selena's role yet why am I on standby? I was interrupted when a bottle of sprite appeared in front of my face.
"Let your brain takes a rest," it's Leomord. I glared at him and took the bottle. I opened it and drank.
"You're welcome," he said.
"No problem," I replied and smirked. He grabbed the chair. He connected his chair to my chair. He sat down beside me. "Why are you here? Sit there!" I said. "I want here, much comfortable," he said and moved closer to me. He leaned on my shoulder. "Leo, you're dvmn heavy!" I reacted.
"Too tired to hear you complain, Lu..." He said. He suddenly got heavier. "Did he just fall asleep already?!" I exclaimed. I think he is. He doesn't look tired a while ago. Maybe he's pretending to be strong because he's the leader. If a leader shows emotions and weaknesses, it can affect his people. I stared at him. All this time, he remained strong because he was the rank 1. However, he's still the same age as I am. He's still a teenager. Did he carry all of the burden alone? Yet I didn't hear him complain and took the responsibility on his own.
"You're stronger than I am, Leo. I don't want you to hear this when you're awake but since you are asleep, I can tell you," I tilted my head. I looked like a fool talking to someone who's asleep. It's a good thing that the others are upstairs and it's only the two of us so no one can hear what I'm about to say. I looked at his face. "Uncle would always tell stories about you, your first mission, your first encounter to him and how the weakest of all turned to be the strongest. You're at the bottom level and yet here you are now, you have climbed to the very top. I can see his eyes sparkle whenever your name is mentioned. You make him proud and I am too. I always enjoyed his stories but I didn't make him noticed and realized that I'm intrigued to you. You're probably confused..." I explained.
"Let me tell you a story on how I first met you. You probably don't remember it because we're still young back then. One day, I was lost in the masquerade party. I couldn't find brother and uncle. I was scared because there's a lot of people. I don't like hanging around with bunch of people because my mental state is not well by that time. I left the place and stayed outside. I found a corner and sat down there while I hugged my knees. A bunch of scoundrels saw me and tried to take advantage of me. Then, you showed up. A little kid appeared in front of me. You're thinner and smaller than my brother but you beat them all," I paused and laughed. Then I continued to talk, "Although your face was badly beaten. You turned around and lift your hand at me. I accepted it and you help me to get up. I asked what's your name and you answered, "Tophet Chevalier, and I will be the best assassin in history." Afterwards, we both entered the venue and we didn't meet each other again. That was our first encounter. I didn't have the courage to thank you before. I'm a little late but still," I told him.
"Thank you, Leo. I'm proud that your wish and your dream came true. You did become the best assassin in history. After our first encounter, I truly admired and respected you. After hearing the news that you're making your path to the top. I was also influenced to do my job seriously and to become a best assassin too. You hadn't only inspired me but also all of the other members of Lustitia, inc. Thank you for your service," I said.
"I thought you hated me but I guess you're just being hard to get," he suddenly spoke. He opened his one eye. My eyes widen. He's not asleep! He's pretending to be asleep. He raised his head. We're so close to each other. Our eyes met. "I didn't forget the day when I first met you. Your eyes were still like an ocean. Once you stare too much, you will drown to death. Lunox, I stared too much and any minute by now, I will drown. Will you come save me?"
"In simple terms, will you catch me if I fall?" He asked.
I gulped.
