Ch#40 Save Me, Idiots
I got into the building and rushed towards the end of the hallways. There were no stairs taking us above. But this building must have upstairs. That's how the structure is. I rushed back and forth the hallway to find some clue, but in vain.
Calm down, Al. Think straight.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath in. I let out the air and tried to think about the times I was dragged into the attic. I tried to recollect anything peculiar. I remember hitting myself onto some table. My hands fell over the table and brushed off the wall as Dave dragged me.
The wall! That's it! It was dusty and so smooth, just like the walls of the room above the Base! The attic must be a room similar to that! I walked back to the entrance of the Academy, the spot where he had blindfolded my eyes. I remember we walked a very small distance and then climbed up the stairs. I walked straight ahead and looked at the right and the left end of the hallway. I don't remember which turn he had taken. So I just believed my instincts and took a right turn. The very first room at the right side was closer than the one at the left. Since he had dragged me for a very small distance, it must be the room on the right. I searched for some sort of sign to let the guys know that this is the room, in case they would come. I could find none that would grab their attention. I then pulled out my t-shirt, leaving my undershirt and left it at the doorstep of the room. I walked in and fished around in search of a secret door similar to that of the Base. To my luck, I found it in one go. It had the same button that the Base's previous door had. I pressed on it and the door opened. Unlike the stairs of the Base, which lead us down, these stairs lead us up.
So that is why it's known as the Attic?
Maybe.
I took deep breaths to calm myself down. I closed my eyes and let my head wander around freely for a minute.
"We're there for you."
"Be safe."
"She will definitely be able to save everyone."
"Trust yourself, Alana."
"See you in three days."
My head spun around the words of my loved ones. I strengthened myself and climbed up the stairs.
I can do it. And I will.
As soon as I reached the top, I found Ashley tied up on a chair and Dave sitting beside her with a bored expression. As his eyes fell on me, he smirked and walked up towards me.
"Welcome home, darling. I've been waiting for you. As you ran up and down the hallway, you should have thrown your glance at me at least once. Due to that silly mistake of yours, I ended up reaching to her before you did", he amused as I glared at him.
"What now, huh? Will you threaten me that you'll kill her as well?", I spat.
"Oh, like how I killed that doctor? Don't worry. I won't kill her that easily. I'll first torture you and after you lose all your energy, I'll torture her. You need to watch her dying sitting on the front seat, shouldn't you? And then, I'll kill you", he laid out his sadistic plan.
"Oh the pleasure I'll have while killing you. I can't-"
He couldn't continue his sentence as I hit his solar plexus with my frying pan. He groaned and fell onto the ground.
"Oh, so what were you saying? Killing me, huh? How are you going to kill me when you can't even get up, darling", I stretched on the last word, mocking him. While I let my guard down, he swung his legs at mine and I lost my balance. He stood up and punched across my face. I stumbled but stood on my ground.
"Never underestimate your opponent. You missed the sweet spot, darling", he winked.
Bloody asshole! He pretended to be hurt to gain momentum over me. Before he could buy more time, I held my fry pan firmly and striked at his temple, but he managed to dodge. He quickly threw a punch on my ribs and then on my jaw. I fell down from the blow. As I fell, I lost my grip on the pan and he kicked it out of the Attic. The room was too cramped. There wasn't much space to play around. I had to give him continuous blows to gain some time. But he's way more powerful than me. Logic wouldn't help me here, I have to be reckless.
I stood up and positioned myself to dodge his attacks. He threw punches at me continuously, few I dodged, and few made me nauseous. As he lost a bit of stamina, I stepped into the ring and pricked his eyes to buy time.
"Ah! Bitch! That's a foul!", he shrieked.
"This ain't WWE, shit face. Grab your balls. Oops sorry. They are on a hibernation, right", I mocked him.
As he agonized over his hurt eyes, I punched on his solar plexus, not missing the spot this time. I kneed his groin and he fell onto the ground. I kicked him continuously on his ribs, just like how he did to me. To rest my legs, I sat over him and punched him continuously across his face. As I did, Louis' face flashed before me. Rage took over me. I increased the speed of the punches. I knew it wouldn't have the impact, but my nerves were on fire.
"Why! Why! Why did you kill him!? What had he done to you!? He never went against your words! He always treated the ones whom you wounded! He was such a good person! Why did you kill him!?", I kept yelling through the punches. Tears blurred my vision, but my fists didn't stop. I was losing stamina. I knew I should have stopped these useless punches long back, but anger didn't let me.
As the power of my punches diminished, Dave gained his stamina. He pushed me away from himself and stood up. I lost my energy. He took advantage of this situation. He attacked me just like how he had done before. He continuously kicked my ribs, punched my temple, stomped on my wrists. I felt nauseated. I could see black dots dancing before my eyes. I lost all my energy. I couldn't fight Dave anymore. Blood was trickling from all over my face. My wrists were also bleeding. He walked away from me, towards Ashley. He wanted me to watch her die, before he kills me. I couldn't let that happen. I can't let her die.
Turn on the sassy mode, Al.
"Dave, did your hibernating balls come back? Their hibernation ended or what?", I laughed bitterly. He rushed back towards me and kicked on my face.
Hurts like a bitch.
I know.
"Dave, you'll never be able to kill me. I've told you before. You may hit me, punch me, kick me. But you can never waver my determination. You can never kill me." I'm gonna fight till my last breath. Even if it has to be done through words.
"I'll show you that I can definitely kill you. I will make your determination go on a hibernation", he fumed. He rummaged around Ashley and found his blunt knife. He slowly walked towards me with a smirk plastered on his face.
"You're so much fun, darling. Your aggressiveness, your confidence, that's what I like about you. I wanted to keep you as my prized possession", he circled around me as he spoke.
"I too like my confidence, you shit face", I laughed out. That received a nice little punch on my temple. I could feel the incoming blackout.
"I'm sorry, dear. I can't leave you roaming around with that sassy mouth of yours. It'll cause you severe problems. So let me do you a favour and kill you so that your mouth will be shut forever. Rest in peace, darling." He raised his knife to stab me, while I closed my eyes and let my head wander around freely for the last time.
"But the risks are worth it anyway"
"We are finally going to build Rome."
"Stop taking the toll all alone. We're here for you. You can lean on us."
"Do not forget that your idiots have got your back. We have entrusted our lives with you, now let us into your walls and hand over your life to us. We promise, we won't let that bastard hurt you ever again."
"Save me, idiots."
