Ch#3 Chronicles of Narnia
"Alana, you have come here to visit your Academy. The least you could do was wear some nice clothes. You do realize how true the words 'first impression is the best impression' are right?" Mum went on speaking about how rude my clothes seemed for this formal meeting with the principal of this academy. Well, she always keeps nagging about my clothes although she knows just why exactly I wear these kinds of clothes. My wardrobe is filled with over sized t-shirts with baggy jeans and a few skinny jeans as well. And today, I don't think I would want to look all pretty and dolled up before the principal. I'm here with a plan. A plan to get rid of my enrollment.
And you thought your dressing would help you in your plan? Yeah, great.
What will you take to keep your thoughts shut? Anyway your words are true. After all, you are me.
Happy realization, love.
I sighed at myself. Sometimes, I don't understand if I'm pretending to be an idiot or if I'm truly an idiot.
I suppose it's the latter.
"Hey, you alright?" I guess he heard my sigh.
"Never been better Aiden. Never been better." I replied sarcastically with an obvious fake smile.
The Stoneridge Academy. There it was written, in bold black letters. We were here to look around the school. It seems quite good. I don't think I'll be able to find any good reasons to convince Dad and Aiden. We went to the principal's office first, as we did have our appointment. We exchanged greetings and my parents sat on the chairs, while me and Aiden just stood behind them due to lack of chairs.
"Well, it's quite unusual to have a transfer student in the senior year. But since it's due to Mr.Anderson's business, we can truly understand the situation."
The principal, Mr.Thomas Hudson, was a man in his mid 40s with a fit and healthy body. He gave me a good look. I felt it was creepy. He looks sophisticated but his actions speak otherwise.
"You need not worry about a single thing Mr.Anderson. Your daughter is in safe hands. She will be treated with the excellent facilities of our Academy just like our other students here." He told with a confident smile. I don't know why, but I feel like his smile holds some other meaning. Or is it just me? I looked at Aiden, who looked absolutely satisfied.
It's only 'cause you're searching for excuses, Al.
"Why don't you take a look around the place. Mr.Smith here, will guide you."
"Yes, sure. Why not." Mum seems to be overly excited about this place. Is she the one going to study here or am I? I'm confused.
"Hello Ma'am. Hello Student. I'm Mr. Dave Smith. The assistant of Principal Hudson."
"I'm sorry but isn't it a little weird for the assistant principal himself to guide us through the Academy?" I had to voice out my thoughts with a sheepish smile so that I wouldn't sound rude. Not that I mind though. But Mum would go all hulk on me and begin her lectures on manners right before these people. I'm not in the mood to be lectured like a five year old, well, thank you.
My question sure did send this Smith person a slight shiver down his spine. "Because, student, we are in short of employees. All of our employees are on a vacation. As the school hasn't begun yet." He answered as if he had memorized it. Something sure isn't right. Is it again only me?
Yes, genius. Everyone else seems to be fine.
Well it is the vacation time. What's wrong with me? Focus Alana, focus! Stick to your plan.
Mr. Smith showed us the Academy. It really is beautiful. If only I didn't have this strong desire to go to a normal high school, I would have totally loved this place. While Mr.Smith took Mum to show the cafeteria, I went to take a look at the room in which I was supposed to stay. I had to find something to convince my family.
The room was extremely, fabulously, wonderfully and everything that ends with -ly, beautiful. There were two double bunk beds on each corner of the room with the wall between the two beds fully covered with a wardrobe, enough for the four people to use. On the wall beside the wardrobe are two study tables. There aren't four of these because there is a huge study hall on the other end of the Academy. I subconsciously touched the walls of the room.
Why is it so dusty?
It's as if the room hasn't been used at all. So does the study tables and the wardrobe tell. They are completely empty. I thought there were students enrolled here already. Something's off.
What's this? There was a line beside the wardrobe, in the shape of a...door? Right then I noticed the tiny circle, something like a button, which could be totally unseen. All of this really blends well with the mural on the wall. One would never be able to notice this until or unless he's in desperate need of faults.
I pressed the button and just like how I imagined, the door, or should I say the secret door, opened up. I could see nothing. It was pitch black. Who knows what's across this door.
Don't worry, genius. It's not the wardrobe in the Chronicles of Narnia. You won't go into another dimension.
Yes. This ain't the Chronicles of Narnia, Al. Get in. It might be the solid reason that you're searching for. Let's do it.
