Ch#27 Man with a Sense of Duty

My nightmares continued and I was in agony. I didn't know how to stop them. Back at home, I had my pills. But here I didn't. Every night I feared of going to sleep. I didn't want to wake up from a terrible nightmare and never be able to go back to sleep. I didn't want my insomnia to come back. I couldn't even let the guys know about this.

I sighed, knowing that only overcoming this trauma would help me out and I didn't know how to get out of this cage. Being trapped in here for too long, I have forgotten my way out.

"Yo, where you lost at?", Beth interrupted my train of thoughts.

"In your deep blue eyes", I replied with a smile, trying to cover the pain behind it.

"I don't have blue eyes!", she whined while I laughed at her. Yohan and Ellis joined us.

"Have you spoken to her yet?", Yohan inquired.

I shook my head in response. Ever since the little argument with Riley, I never spoke to her. I am already suffering enough with these nightmares, I cannot add more fuel to this fire.

"You asked us to be indifferent towards her when you told us about her and now you are acting against your words", Ellis chimed in.

"I know. I'm trying, alright. Overnight, you can't expect me to be all gushy over her, pretending like I was not the main subject of her story", I snapped at him.

"But it has been several overnights now", he replied.

"Guys, please don't begin a fight now."

"We're not fighting!", both of us exclaimed which made Yohan flinch.

"Stop it, you kiddos. Let's speak something important", Beth cut in our conversation.

We stared at each other, clueless, to which she rolled her eyes. "Guys, why do you think Dave has locked us in here? He tells this is a boarding school, has registered it as one but actually has no students who study here. What might his motive be?"

That is a question I have been trying to find an answer to myself. Just for what exactly is he doing all this?

"Would it be for money?", Yohan voiced out.

Ellis shook his head and replied, "But I don't think that just for money he built an entire school, spent a lot of money on it, got it registered even. Also, if it is for the money alone, why would he beat the crap out of us? Why all the abuse?"

"Maybe 'cause he's a sadist?", I chimed in. We sighed, unable to know his motive. If only I had a chance to meet Mr.Hudson. I am very sure that he is on the good side.

What makes you think so?

If I say guts, would it be too heroic?

You have watched way too many movies, Al.

Before I could shut my other self, we heard the main door to the Base opening and shoutings. All the students gathered to look at who it is. My eyes widened seeing Mr.Hudson being dragged by Dave. Both of them had blood smeared on their faces.

They must have had a fight.

They reached the bottom of the stairs and Mr.Hudson's eyes widened in shock when he saw the students. His eyes suddenly filled with despise and he raised his fist to punch Dave, but he dodged it well.

"You scumbag! How dare you destroy the lives of these innocent students?", he yelled.

"Shut your trap. Now rot in this hell hole together with these innocent students of yours", Dave uttered, pushing Mr.Hudson towards the student body.

None of us could understand what was happening. None of us came forward to help Mr.Hudson. Shocked would be an understatement. Everyone was stupefied. According to what the students knew, Mr.Hudson worked with Dave. None of us knew how to take on this situation. But amongst all this confusion, Louis came forward. He walked up to Mr.Hudson and said, "Mr.Thomas Hudson, you need treatment." He helped him get up and went to his spot of medical supplies.

That guy is a man with a sense of duty.

A proud smile crawled up my lips and I followed them. I know that Mr.Hudson doesn't work for Dave and I need to confirm that. Ellis grabbed my wrist to stop me.

"Don't tell me that you trust him already."

I smiled at him and replied, "I know he isn't a bad guy, Ellis." He let go of me with a sigh.

"I will never understand you."

I smiled at him and replied, "One day, you will. One day, you will definitely understand me."
