Ch#43 A New Leaf

After speaking to Mr.Edgar, I called Yohan. His phone rang for a while before he picked up.

"Hey", he greeted.

"Hi."

"What is it? Is Ellis alright?"

"He's still the same. When are your parents coming back?", I inquired.

"Dad texted me earlier. They got a flight for tomorrow. That's why I came home to arrange a few stuffs before they reach", he answered.

His parents had gone to South Korea, his mother's place. When he went back home after getting the treatment for his wounds, he found nobody at his home. His neighbor informed him that his parents went to South Korea due to some emergency. He did not bother asking his parents about what the emergency was and neither did they tell him. I could sense that the parents and the son do not speak much with each other. I really wished his parents too enrolled him in Stoneridge because it is a rehabilitation center and not because they wanted to get rid of him.

"When are you coming back to the hospital?", I asked him.

"Tonight. I'll be there tonight."

"Okay. I'll drop home and come by once you reach here. Mum and Dad have been worried too much", I said.

"Alright. Has Beth reached yet?"

"Nope. She'll come tomorrow. She said she has certain things to take care of", I informed him.

"Oh. Okay then, I'm hanging up. Bye."

"See you later."

I gazed at Mr.Edgar who was standing at the door of Ellis' room as we ended the call. His eyes were teary, his face was gloomy. But behind that pain, I could see his determination of wanting his son back. I could feel how much he wanted to mend his relationship with his son. And I wished Ellis would forgive him. I walked up to him to let him know that I would be at the other wing of the hospital. I had to meet Ashley.

I inquired about Ashley's room number at the front desk. After walking a little, I found her room at the end of the hallway. I knocked on the door before entering.

"Come in." I sighed as I heard Riley's voice. I didn't want to meet Ashley in Riley's presence. Nevertheless, I entered in. Mr.Hudson was also there with them.

"Hello, Mr.Hudson", I greeted him.

"It's a pleasure to see you here, child. How is Ellis?"

"No progress. Still the same. But his condition hasn't deteriorated either. He had received a heavy blow on his head while fighting with Dave. Hence, he is still unconscious. The infection around the stab has been reduced after surgery. But the infection within is the problem", I reported dejectedly. He walked up to me and smiled brightly.

"Don't worry, child. Ellis is a strong person. He will not leave you guys behind. He must be fighting with himself right now to wake up", he comforted me and I returned him a smile. I then looked at Ashley, who was lying on the bed, getting her drips. She was completely healed by now with only scars left behind.

"Hey", I greeted her.

"Thank you for saving me", she smiled.

"I should be the one thanking you for saving my life", I said while she shot me a confused look. I suppose, Riley has told her nothing. I looked at Riley trying to tell her through my eyes that I wanted privacy. I don't know if she read my eyes, or if the thought just dawned upon her.

"You guys continue. We'll be out", she said and took Mr.Hudson out. I walked towards Ashley and sat on the chair beside her bed.

"I guess you too can't recognize me." I smiled as she tried to crack her memory cells trying to catch a face similar to mine.
