Chapter Six: "Tender Skin"

I WAS SO OVERWHELMED BY the heat of Bastet being and trying to be resilient all at the same time, that I didn't notice her warmth had broken down part of the wall I was building up throughout all this time. Leaving me nearly as completely vulnerable before his eyes. I was a mess. I couldn't stop tears from falling down and if I kept going at that pace I'd have probably thrown up.

"I'm sorry," I tried to apologise but my voice came out almost brittle. I couldn't stop crying right after he let go of his hand on my neck, I just felt the urge to cry and I wanted him to feel ashamed of how he treated me, it was almost as if I fed off his embarrassment.

"It's not your fault, I understand," he replied.
"The only thing I don't understand is how your frequencies of energy are so high but you seem to be only made of sadness, grief and regrets, why so?" he questioned me.

No words could bother to make their way out of my cold lips, I was shaking in fear and I felt numbness in my feet; I thought he was my angel or some sort of guardian sprit, then him not hugging me and keeping me warm, made me question: was he really the one?

He became whist all of a sudden as he leaned against my balcony and his aureolus wings rested behind him, they twitched as he rocked on one of his bare feet, he impatiently waited for my answer as he stared at my feeble body on the floor.

"You must be an eccedentesiast," he said, pointing his finger towards me, sounding pretty surprised and proud, then he went ahead and collected his bare arms in front of his naked chest and thought harder.

"I must be an eccedentesiast?" I asked in a whisper, it was like I was repeating it to myself.
I was shivering and I only wore my undergarments as I sat on the cold wet tiles and my feet soaked in the cold puddles of rain below me.

He walked closer to me and kneeled down.
His curly hair slightly fell on his delicate face.

"No, wait, you must be one of those type of beings that make everything seem easy to achieve but behind doors they cry and work ten times harder than anyone else and once they've saved up months and years of hard work they show it off in a matter of seconds," he said and shocked his head, as if he knew he had got his explanation right to perfection, some of his hair fell on his face. His words neglected right through my chest like arrows and they burnt through my skin like venom.

"I think I could add something more."
"Once you show it off, when the time comes that something is given to you that clearly was put no thought nor effort into and you complain, the fact that you make everything look so expensive is used against you," he added, tilting his head slightly.

"You're wrong, you don't know anything about me," I said looking up to him and leaning my head back onto the wall behind me. I knew exactly how correct he was at that moment but I denied it because whatever he was, he had the ability to read my existence and convey it into words and I felt the urge to make fun of him.

"You know I'm more than right, sweetheart."
"Anyways, I must have looked like I didn't have any respect for a Queen like you, a few moments ago but trust me, I do," he whispered, placing his hand on my knees and his wings spread wide open and covered us.

He was so close to me and I could clearly see all his features, they were beautiful and pleasant to look at: brownish skin and slanting eyes, his eyes drew me closer and closer to his face and he breathed loudly out loud, our breaths synchronised and the smile on his lips grew bigger.

"Then if thine is, may I know thy name?" I teasingly asked, I bit onto my bottom lip and I caressed my hands from my knees to my feet and back, in a reciprocating motion, trying to keep my body warm.

He then gave me a challenging look and brought his hands between me and him, pointing his index finger upwards, from the tip of his nail appeared a little tornado and I glared at it surprised, it sparkled then created light. I could feel the bond between me and the being.

"What if I told you my name is Seb?"
"Even if I'm lying to you, you'll have to believe me because we both didn't decide we aren't allowed to lie, so just call me Seb if that's what makes your heart rest," he said with a smile on his lips.

"Seb?" I asked.
"Seb, as in Sebastian?" I asked him another question right after the other. I still could hardly see inside his wings but I knew one thing for sure there was only me and him.

"I love this name thing, how about you call me William," he smirked and friendly leaned closer, I could feel the warmth of his breath and it made me feel extraordinarily comfortable, it gave me this sense of bitter sweet mixed with the closeness of the rain I was soaked in, just him simply breathing gave me this feeling of tranquility.

"William?"
"What about Lorenzo?" I asked.
"I'll call you William for now."

"Yes, I'm pleased to meet you," he said leaning his hand towards me, I could tell he wasn't attracted to me or even if he was he was certainly faking or neglecting the fact that he might have been, for then I only felt this brotherly relationship growing between me and him.

"For your information, I no longer lust at the sight of your tender skin, Isis," he said.

"Isis?" I asked.

The door behind me wide opened and the smell of smoke filled my lungs even though it mainly smelled like petrichor. Ammit danced around me, she giggled and played with my hair: grabbing a few braids and letting them fall on my face, her hips moved left to right to the sound of nothing and even though her hair was all over the place I could still see the smile on her lips.

"Aaliyah you really are something else, what on Earth are you doing here?" asked Bastet once she looked down to her left, I looked up to her and then my eyes moved to the just lit up cigarette between her fingers.

"I wanted to enjoy the atmosphere."

"Without putting on a shirt first?" She asked.

"Yes without a shirt; I slipped and just felt too much pain to stand up, I'm so clumsy!" I laughed out loud and she looked at me concerned for a moment but then laughed with me.

"Come on, let's go inside," she invited me.

With her help we both made our way back into the warmth of my bedroom. I looked back feeling a sense of loneliness, was he going to come back? Too many people have left in my life making it an endless cycle of grief and regrets.

There he went too, helping the process.
