Chapter 10

"You'll spend your Christmas break in Australia?", I raised up my head from my book when Andrew spoke in front of me. We're inside my unit, reviewing for our exam for tomorrow.

Since the day I realized my feelings towards him, I found it hard to look straight into his eyes. I have always this fear that he might see the truth through my eyes. Avoiding him became harder because he's my classmate in one of our subjects. Nagsisi tuloy ako na niyaya ko sina Czai na mag-enroll sa subject ni Sir Ferrer.

Besides, I think avoiding him would be useless. Para saan kung iiwas ako? At the end of the day, magkaibigan pa rin naman kami. The only difference is that I unconsciously developed deeper feelings for him while he's obviously happy with someone else.

"I'm still thinking about it. Di pa rin ako sigurado kung papayagan ako ni Dad"

"I'll go with you", my hand automatically stopped from writing when I heard what he said, "I promised you last time, right?"

My eyes blinked thrice, staring at him in disbelief. I didn't expect that he'll remember his promise. Especially now that he's busy with a lot of things. Dumagdag pang mukhang naging sobrang busy ni Ellie sa university niya kaya minsan hindi sila nagkakausap.

"Hindi ka ba pupunta sa LA? Or... kay Ellie?"

"Eleanor will go home in December. Pwede ka naming samahan sa Australia. She actually wanted to join", he smiled while picking up his phone. Bumagsak ang tingin ko sa hand-outs ko dahil sa narinig.

Am I bad for feeling like this? I don't want to hate Ellie but I can't help but feel so annoyed with just a mention of her name. Lahat na lang ba kailangang konektado sa kanya? Can't Andrew come with me in Australia as my bestfriend and not because Ellie wanted to go?

"She's excited", I heard him laugh. Nagpanggap na akong abala sa pagso-solve kahit sa totoo lang hindi ko na alam kung tama pa ba ang ginagawa ko, "She'll be here third week of December"

I forced a smile and nodded before focusing on my reviewers again. Halos mabutas na ang papel sa sobrang diin ng pagkakasulat ko. Mabuti na lang tapos na akong mag-aral nang mapag-usapan namin si Ellie, kung hindi baka wala na akong ma-review dahil wala nang pumapasok sa utak ko.

Nagre-review din naman kaming magkakaibigan sa apartment nina Czai at Edzel, but of course iba pa rin yung mag-review ka night before the exam. Mas mare-refresh ang utak mo.

When Andrew left, all I did was stare at the blank sky above while I was in my balcony. Kakaunti ang mga bituin at hindi halos makita ang buwan. I think it'd rain since the clouds were thick and too dark.

I was about to go inside my unit when my phone beeped for a message again. Kahit hindi ko buksan, alam ko naman kung kanino galing yun. That monkey has been bothering me almost everyday. Pilit niyang ipinapaalala na nagtatampo siya sa akin.

Kahit masama ang ugali mo sakin, sasabihin ko pa rin na nakita ko ulit ang kuya mo kanina. Nasa LA ako ngayon. Ipinapasabi niyang okay lang siya at wag mo raw sasabihin kahit kanino kung nasaan siya. May kasama siyang babae. Mukhang girlfriend niya.

I was so tempted to reply to his text. He really knows how to get my attention. At ang dalas naman niya sa LA? Nag-aaral pa ba yun?

I know you won't reply. Kilala na kita! Suplada! Snobera! Ikaw na maganda! Oo na, maganda ka na! Hmp! Nagtatampo pa rin ako!

I sighed and rolled my eyes at his second text. Ganyan palagi ang text niya. Ganyang ganyan! Kulang na lang ipagsigawan niya sa akin palagi ang pagtatampo niya. Parang bata!
