Chapter 16

Hindi pa nga kami nagkakaayos ni Drew, pumutok pa ang balitang buntis si Fayre at ang ama ay si Edzel. Everything felt slowly going out of our hold.

Czairina and Edzel were so wrecked. I don't know whom to hold because they're both my friends. But I'd admit, I got so mad with Edzel after knowing that what Fayre was telling the truth. Si Edzel ang ama ng ipinagbubuntis niya! How the hell could he hurt Czairina that way? I couldn't understand!

I've seen Czairina in her weakest point. I've seen how she lost her track. How she wanted to stop everything because everything started to wound her more. She lost all the enthusiasm in life.

And I never thought that we'd lose her too after almost two months. She left without a word.

I was crying so much after knowing that she went away without telling us where she went. Wala ni isa sa amin ang nakakaalam kung saan siya pumunta. Wala man lang siyang sinabihan.

I was so worried for her. I've been crying with Gerlie and Miah because I felt so useless. Pakiramdam ko hindi enough yung naging suporta namin sa kanya kaya pinili niyang umalis at mapag-isa.

Who would be there for her at this most crucial time for her? Who'd hug her and tell her that everything will be okay? Who'd be there to listen and comfort here? I'm just hoping that she's safe wherever she went.

"Gerlie, parang awa mo na, sabihin niyo sa akin saan pumunta si Aleah. Nagmamakaawa ako", I couldn't even look at Edz while he's begging in front of us. Tears were streaming on his face. He's drunk but enough to carry himself. I think he already learned his lesson.

"Edz, hindi namin alam. H-hindi nga siya nagpaalam kahit kanino, di ba?", Gerlie's teary-eyed too. She looked away while wiping her tears.

Whose heart wouldn't break if you'd see how devastated Edzel is right now? He's totally wrecked. His hair was longer than the usual. The stubbles were growing. His shirt has crumples. His eyes were bloodshot from tears. The black shadow around his eyes proved how he couldn't sleep properly at night. He's gradually losing weight.

"Didn't she contact you? How about Frankie? Hindi ba siya tumatawag kay Frankie? I'm sure she'll contact her bestfriend. Kilala ko yun, kapag hindi sa akin, kay Frankie yun tatakbo. Baka alam niya? Please ask him. Maybe he knows?"

Tears quickly fell on my cheeks when the desperation on his voice reached my ears. I never imagined Edzel would be on this level. He's now far from the confident Edzel I met in college. He looked so lifeless. Para bang si Czai na lang ang bumubuhay sa kanya at ngayong wala ito, nawalan na rin ng direksyon ang buhay niya.

I bit my lower lip when I realized how love could make and break a person in a split second of time. Parang kailan lang sobrang saya nilang dalawa. They even have their own place, legally accepted by both families, almost ready for their future. And yet, because of one mistake he did, everything fell apart.

Now, he lost the woman who turned him into a great man. With one mistake, he will no longer be able to spend the lifetime with the woman he prayed and waited for a long time. He lost his chance.

"Drew", my voice cracked as soon as I opened my mouth. I don't know what got into me and just found myself in front of Andrew's unit after talking with Edz.

Andrew's standing by the doorway while holding the knob. He looked surprised for a second before worry spilled all over his face.

"Why are you crying?"

I sniffed and sobbed a bit while making my way towards him. I threw myself to him, wrapping my arms around his neck.
