Kyle 🏀

So last week Ari shot the video for her newest song Hands Free, and this week we're starting production for the new season of Married to Basketball. She's the wife, I'm the baller, we have three kids...yeah.

Right now she's a little stressed out because her schedule has been a little jam packed. And I'm no help at all because I'm on the road right now. So we're on FaceTime at this very moment, talking about what her schedule is looking like for the remainder of this week.

"It really sucks that you have to be away the whole week. Can't the NBA make adjustments?"
"No babe, they can't."

I watch as she frowns into the camera.

"I love you and I miss you all so much."
"We love and miss you more."
"What did you cook for dinner tonight?"
"I ordered some crab legs from the seafood place downtown. It was so good, you missed it."
"Don't tease me."

She chuckles.

"How's your back?"

I've been nursing a minor back injury since the start of this season. It sucks having to take meds every eight hours, but if it stops whatever pain is there, I'm all for it.

"It's good. I'm going to see a chiropractor tomorrow before practice."
"What did Magic say?"
"He wanted me to stay home."
"Why didn't you?"
"I have to make money."

She rolls her eyes at that.

"Right."
"Don't give me that face."
"I do what I want."
"I'll tear that ass up too, play with me."

I watch her blush and try to hide from the camera.

"That's what I thought. Put Violet on the phone."
"She's upset."
"Why?"
"Ask her."
"Then put her on the phone Ari. Common sense would tell you that."
"Watch your mouth."

I stick my tongue out at her and she goes to find Violet. I watch as she turns on the light in Violet's room, before going to see if she's awake.

"Daddy wants to speak to you."

I hear Violet's muffled voice, but I can't tell what she's saying. Her voice is so small and so cute.

"What's wrong baby girl?"

Ari hands her the phone and she looks down at me in the camera.

"What happened?"
"I miss you."
"I miss you more baby."
"When you come home?"
"I'll be home next weekend baby."
"Fats too wong."

Ugh, she gets me every time with the pouted lips.

"I'm sorry it's so long mamas."
"Baby cwy awot and make mama sad."
"I'm sure mommy can handle it. She did a great job with you, and she's doing just as good a job with your brothers."

She frowns.

"I wike when you hope."
"You like when I help?"

She nods and I chuckle.

"I can't help mommy over the phone?"

She shakes her head.

"Alright, I'll try to get home as soon as I can to help mommy. Okay?"

She nods again.

"Alright mamas, I love you."
"I wuv you too."

She blows me a kiss and I catch it. Then Ari's face pops back into the screen and I pout a little.

"I'm very tempted to give you another girl this very second."
"I don't wanna hear it now, we're stuck with two boys."

I laugh.

"You love it."
"Do I?"

I grin.

"How are you feeling though? I think that was Violet's distress signal."

She giggles.

"It sure was. And I'm hanging in there."
"How long can you hold out for?"
"Depends. How fast can you get here?"

I love it when she talks freaky.

"Please don't tempt me."

She shrugs and I wish I was there to wrap her up in my arms.

"I have to go though. Back in the studio tomorrow."
"No way. You're sleeping the whole day in."
"Not an option."
"I didn't make it one."
"Goodnight Kyle."
"Ariana Eliza Williamson-Kuzma, if you hang up this phone I will wring your neck."
"My finger is hovering the button as we speak."

I roll my eyes playfully.

"Goodnight baby."
"Night."
"I love you."
"I love you toooo."

I chuckle as she hangs up the phone.

What would I do without her?

*****

"You think she'll like this one?" I ask Quinn, looking at the diamond incrusted choker. The last one she had broke, and she has been talking about getting a new one for a while now. She has yet to do so by the way, so here I stand in the jewelry store about to buy it for her.

"I assume so." He replied, taking a good look at it as well.

There's a diamond incrusted 'A' that hangs on it, that's probably why it was so valuable to her. Also while I was away, she let me know that Zo had sent her two gold bar template bracelets for the twins. One with Aiden and one with Jordan, both with a tiny blue stone on the sides of their names. Violet's has pale violet stones on the sides of her name.

"I'll take this one." I tell the retailer guy.

He nods and prepares the accessory. I turn to face Quinn as he does so.

"So what's the talk of you having a lady friend?" I tease.

He shrugs, grinning. "She's just a friend."

"That's what they all say."

"Don't patronize me Kuz."

I hold my hands up in surrender. "Just saying."

"Don't say." He shakes his head.

The guy hands me the bag and I thank him. We make our way back to the hotel, where the team is just about ready to leave. We're headed to Miami in a few hours.

"What are the odds you run into that girl?" Bron asked.

"What girl?"

"Katrina, Katarina. Something like that."

I purse my lips to avoid laughing. "The odds are slim. Very slim."

"Mhm."

"Listen, I'm tired of this ex bullshit. I'm married with kids. I'm ready to move on from that." I shrug it off.

"Seems as though they're not." AD added.

"Sounds like their problem. That don't got shit to do with me."

"That boy Kuz done grew some serious balls." JaVale teased, pushing my chest.

That's exactly what I did.
