Chapter 8

After I left the shop, I went straight to class. I'm normally one of the first people there, I've always made it a priority to be on time to things.

When I arrive at the lecture hall, there's only a few people inside standing and talking in the first rows. I start to step through the doors when I see none other than Youngjae sitting in the seat next to my usual spot.

I back out of the hall and peek through the little window on the door. What is he doing here? Shouldn't we be giving each other space right now?

I make the quick decision to run into the girls bathroom. He can't go in there, and no one really uses them in the morning anyway.

I'll just wait here for another 15 minutes then go see if he's gone, class starts in 10 minutes so he should be gone right?

After 15 minutes I walk out of the bathroom and peek into the hall. He's not there anymore.

I make my way to my seat and settle in. When I reach into my bag for my computer someone's hand grabs onto mine.

I look up to see Jae standing right in front of me.

He has a straight face on display, but I can see traces of desperation and a little bit of hope in his eyes.

"Jihyun, can we talk?" He asks.

I pull my hand away. "I don't want to talk to you about anything." I say calmly.

I'm not trying to be the angry one here, that would put me in a position I don't want to be in. If someone is going to be angry it's him because of me getting over this so quickly.

"Jihyun, please-"

"I said no, Jae." I said sternly. But he didn't stop.

"Jihyun, listen. I need to apologize, I messed up. Please just let me-"

"Excuse me, sir. You don't seem to be part of this class, would you mind going on your way so that I may teach my students?" The professor says.

Everyone in the hall turns to look at me and Jae. He bows to the professor, looks into my eyes for a moment and turns to leave.

I watch him walk out of the hall and turn to face the professor who has a knowing look on her face. She tilts her head at me, as if asking if I was ok.

I nod slightly at her with a small, grateful smile, she returns the smile, and starts teaching.

After about a minute or so, I get a text.

I look at my phone and get a small chill down my spine.

So Jae's back, yay (note the sarcasm).

How about today we all go to our favorite group or song's music videos and stream stream stream. Even if the video is from a few years ago, a few more views wouldn't hurt.

Anyway, stay safe guys, things are still happening in America and we all have to work together if we want to solve this whole problem. Wear your mask, wash your hands, and stay home if you can.
