Levi waited for the horses to come back from the expedition. He tapped his foot by the gate, finally seeing the horses come back. When he came back, he didn't see either of the people he was looking for. When the horses came in lugging in a carriage, he peaked in and saw the only two people he cared for wrapped in bandages, blood all over their clothes. He requested to get in the wagon to see the two. He saw Erwin was missing an arm and Ichika's body was paler than usual.

"Mr. Levi!" He turned around to see a little girl running towards him and hugging his stomach, crying. Eren had been in charge of looking after her until her mother woke up. "That bad man hurt mommy! Is she going to be okay?" The scouts were shocked to see that Levi didn't push the child away, he patted her head to comfort her and she looked up at him.

"Your mother is going to be okay." He grabbed her hand, leading her to where her mother was. Ichika's breathing was a bit unsteady, but he knew she'd be okay. As long as her leg didn't open back up, she'd be able to recover within a few weeks.

Ichika's eyes slowly fluttered open, her daughter smiling big. Ichika's eyes immediately went to who was lying beside her. She saw Erwin's eyes closed and one of his arms missing. When she looked up, her eyes fell on the sun, instantly closing her eyes and groaning as if she just woke up early in the morning.

"Mommy?" Ichika followed the voice to see her daughter standing at the end of the wagon. The mother sat up fighting the pain and crawled over to her daughter, embracing her close and pulling her into the wagon. She kissed her head over and over again.

"Blossom, are you okay?" She started examining all over her daughter for any type of injuries, Sakura giggled at how concerned her mother was.

"I'm okay! Eren saved me and Mr. Levi said I could stay with you." She looked behind her daughter to see the commander at the end of the wagon. She looked back to Erwin and understood why he looked so worried. Erwin almost died, of course, he'd be worried.

"I worried about you too." Levi looked at Ichika and climbed into the wagon and knelt down to the two.

"I'm sorry for slapping you." She rambled out, closing her eyes and holding her daughter closer to her body.

"I'm not worried about that, Ichika." Levi smiled with his eyes and she understood, but not fully. He forgave her, but he was more concerned about her well being. Ichika let go of Sakura and embraced Levi. They were both stunned and so was everyone around them. She had her arms wrapped around his neck and buried her face in his neck. Levi hesitated, but soon wrapped his arms around her and rubbed her back.

"I'm sorry to run out and disobeying commands." Levi felt her tears dripping onto his skin and he pulled her closer to him.

"Don't run out on me again. I thought I'd lose you; blinded by your own rage to give up your life." Levi whispered in her ear and heard low laughing from beside them.

"I told you, Levi," Erwin spoke, his voice raspy and coughing a bit. He was referring to how important he thought Ichika was to Levi. They both stared at each other, realizing that what they felt for each other was, in fact, mutual.

Once they arrived at the infirmary, Erwin was privately escorted to the emergency room and Levi carried Ichika in himself, not trusting her in someone else's arms. He laid her down in a white bed in one of the rooms, letting the doctor examine her leg. The blade went all the way through her leg but missed her bone by just millimeters. It'd scar over but should close up in the next few days.

"Thank you, doctor." Ichika gave the doctor a smile while she walked out. "So, where did they take Sakura?" Levi pulled up a chair next to her bed and sat down.

"She's currently with your brother, they have to go back soon." Ichika frowned and looked down at her hands. Levi noticed and grabbed one of her hands gently. "I convinced the interior to at least let them say goodbye and let you visit them every so often." His face was stoic but he felt happy. Knowing that the two people most important to him were going to be okay.

"Thank you, Levi." She looked up and smiled at him. His cheeks stained pink, opening his mouth to reply was cut off by the door knocking. "Name and business." Levi darted his eyes to the door.

"Ika, you have such a deep voice." Kaiyo popped his head open from the door only to see Levi was the one who spoke. "I'm sorry, commander." The door flung open from Sakura and she jumped onto the bed next to her mother.

"Uncle Kaiyo said we are going back to the castle, are you coming with us?" Sakura tilted her head with a smile on her face. Ichika sighed, placing her hand on her daughter's cheek.

"Not this time, Blossom. But, you'll be seeing me more often." She kissed her daughter's head and she was surprised her daughter didn't get mad at her for leaving again. Sakura turned and pointed at captain Levi.

"You better take care of my mommy, Mr. Levi." Sakura tried to act tough and Levi 'tch'-ed at her in a playful manner.

"I promise, I will." Levi nodded his head at her and Sakura whispered to her mother.

"If he's gonna be my new daddy, I don't mind him." No one else heard what she said but noticed Ichika's cheeks turn bright red and she laughed awkwardly.

"Alright, Sakura, it's time to go back," Kaiyo said from behind her and she hugged her mom one last time.

"Make sure to come back for me, mommy." Ichika kissed her daughter's cheek before she jumped off the bed and ran towards her uncle.

"See you on the other side." Her brother smiled at her and exited the room with his niece.

Ichika turned and saw Levi staring at her as if he wanted to tell her something.

"How's Erwin doing?" Of course, she'd asked how her commander is doing when she also almost died.

"Well, he's missing an arm." Levi tried to lighten the mood but did it terribly. "He's doing fine, recovering slowly but surely."

"Did we get them back? Is he dead?" She bitterly asked the last question.

"We got Jaeger back, but no. They both got away with our other titan." Ichika nodded and placed her head on Levi's hand that was laying on the bed next to her.

"Ichika, I want you to make a promise to me." Ichika looked up with her eyes to see Levi looking down at her, his cheeks light pink. "Promise me, you'll stay by my side from here on out. No running off on me and disobeying my orders. I need to recruit a new squad and I want you to be by my side to protect the brats."

Ichika picked her head up and gently put her hand on his jaw. "Of course, Levi. I'm not just saying that because you're my captain." She smiled and lightly laughed, he thought it was adorable. Ichika's face was inches away from his and they both stared into each other's eyes.

"Levi," She quietly spoke. Levi grabbing both sides of her face gently and leaning closer to her. Once the space between them was gone, he kissed her. Ichika was caught off guard, but soon gave in and kissed him back.
