Silvia's POV
I woke up under Lucien's arms. I gasped and blushed as I remembered yesterday's activities. My hand reached and felt the mark on my neck. He marked me!
"You like it?" I heard my mate's whisper.
"Yes," I murmured, my fingers tracing the unique mark. I suddenly had a crazy idea.
"I could tell there is something on your mind, little Fae. Speak up, what is it?" he moved closer to me.
I couldn't help but smile. "Can I mark you?" Since I was also part werewolf, I could also mark Lucien too, right?
There was a slight pause before I heard his voice again. "Of course little Fae." I hugged him and kissed him warmly. I could feel the bond very strongly now.
I trailed small kisses down his neck and found the spot where my mark was going to be on his neck. I kissed that spot tenderly and let my canines sink into his skin.
Crystal's POV
"Why did you never tell me that Silvia was running from her mate?" Peri asked, sipping her latte. I rolled my eyes and shuffled around nervously.
Why would I tell you?
I sighed. "You would probably send her to her mate as soon as you found out. Like you did," I pointed out.
"Of course! Why not? Mates are supposed to be together and I didn't sense anything real bad or evil in her mate," Peri shrugged. Of course she wouldn't get it. I didn't expect her to.
No one understands.
"She needed time, and she wanted to get away from everyone," I sighed again. This is exhausting.
Like my life.
Peri scoffed. "Like you? Does anyone else know you are alive? You seriously kept this secret and didn't tell Samantha and Caroline that you were at least okay? You know she still wants revenge on Hail." Then she paused. "Although I get why you whisked Silvia to me, but why won't you at least go back to your best friends? They genuinely believe you are dead! And you won't know what might happen when they actually do find out."
I shook my head. They were not going to know. Never. It's not really their fault, it's mine. But they couldn't know.
"Unless..." her eyes narrowed as she trained her eyes on me. "Unless...you set it up."
Of course.
I shifted uncomfortably in my seat. Smart, ancient, Peri the Fairy. She was going to find out anyways. Not that I wanted her to. We never really discussed this or sat down in a conversation for this long. I tried to avoid this situation.
She was bound to know, I whispered to myself.
Peri's eyes bore into mine while I avoided her eye contact. "You...really did, didn't you?" Peri breathed out. She immediate stood up and banged her hand on the table. "You had no right to do that! Do you know how much Caroline blames herself? She vowed to get revenge for you? Do you know how Caroline and Samantha felt? You had absolutely no right to do that!"
I know, and it's all my fault. Everything's my fault. But nothing will work now. Nothing can fix it.
I kept my head down as she yelled at me. After all, by the end of today, her words will just add to the tall pile of guilt and remorse buried deep inside me. After all, by the end of today, her words wouldn't change my plans that were already etched in stone.
Never.
